Group projects are worse in college because at this point, we grown AND paying for these classes. Ain’t no way anyone, at this BIG AGE, not taking responsibility to get their work done along with other adults at a reasonable time. I can’t stand people who ride other peoples coattails in order to get ahead, bc it’s not fair. That’s why I’m picky as hell when it comes to group members. I remember this one girl asked to group with me, and I straight up denied and joined a different group bc sis never showed to class. Ain’t no way my grade suffering on your account

Girl those teachers don’t care if you’re doing it by yourself. I was in that boat from middle school all the way through college so I know.
That works with certain things but engineering is a whole different breed😭
This has happened to be before and I ended up writing the whole report and submitting it with only my name on it and emailed the prof telling him what happened…the rest of the group failed

This is exactly why whenever I get into it with a group member, I outline exactly what I did in the messages before I disappear. Cuz once I do what I have to do, don’t bother me and if we’re taking it to a lecturer, he/she can see that I already did my part.

I hated group projects when I was in middle and highschool(mostly highschool) because no one wanted to work with me for some unknown reason. Every time the teacher assigned group projects and I was supposed to work with certain people they'd complain amongst themselves 😢
don’t be afraid to be assertive. Be the leader in the group. I usually take initiative in my group projects because that’s how things succeed and get done. It’s all about teamwork. Be the leader, don’t spare anybody feelings, tell ‘em how it is
This is why I hated group projects when I was at University. One group member accused us of bullying her and we got an automatic fail. Despite us giving evidence and holding a meeting with the module leader.

This why I would always ask my teachers if I could do the projects by myself because the groups I was with never did anything and I did whole project by myself anyways. But my teachers always said no you have to work together and in college I had a group project and I was the only black person in the class and when I tried to get together with my group they claim they weren’t meeting but that was a lie because my classmates and teacher was racist. And I failed public speaking because of them.

Merry Christmas sis! Let me tell you I'm in college right now I'm going to be graduating followed 2024 but I hate group work like it's the worst I had a few group projects back in like when I first started at my University in my social work course I had like one group project and I told my group that I was going to be the presenter now they didn't send me the work because the teacher only gave us about 10-15 minutes to like do research and put stuff together it was an easy group assignment one of the girls in my group came to class late now mind you this is an online course so we're doing Zoom so we're in breakout rooms right I explained to the girl that came in late what we were doing so she was assigned to type up the word me and the other three girls that was in the group we sent her what we had in the chat. Now I didn't see what she had typed up because we sent her the work and all she had to do was type it up and put it in a PowerPoint which would only take like a few minutes so I watch one of my classmates a present the project of his group and all my gosh y'all I was sure that project looks so nice then my teacher calls on the group that I'm in right she says me the PowerPoint nothing only had three slides half of the information that she typed up was misspelled and it just didn't do right. So I'm trying to read what she had typed up but then the PowerPoint like disappeared so I get a little stumbled my group did not even bother to like help me out or anything and so my teacher called out the girls around my group saying that they weren't very good partners because they weren't helping me because the PowerPoint had disappeared on me while I was trying to present it I told my teacher I said don't worry about it I got it I was able to pull up the PowerPoint and read it again but I shake my head I'm like never again and I'm going to let these girls do me the way they did in my class. But thankfully we didn't get a grade for that so I'm glad so but I hate group work so much because honestly I don't like relying on people when it comes to migraine so far I have like a 3.7 GPA and in my program we have to maintain a 3.5 so I'm not trying to have random people who actually don't want to do work affect my grade so now I just honestly do most of the work when I do group work cuz I'm like I'm not going to last nobody affect my grade and bring my GPA down when I'm almost close to graduating
I can totally relate to your story! I am also going to graduate in 2024 but it’s so annoying when people don’t want to put in the work. I always have to take on so many roles because people are either lazy or just don’t have the effort. Luckily, my professors are pretty understanding and will try to help out.
