This video made me wonder whether music can be void of place. I'm toying with the idea that music always already has a place and that tracks that don't seem to have a conspicuous place are only indifferent rather than absent of place. Is attempted placeless music a sufficient definition of what we call the abstract in music?
Been thinking about this. My line of thought is this: in order for sound to exist, it needs space to move the air. We never hear sound not in a place, except maybe the artificial space of a DAW. Sounds might imply fantastic places but hard to imagine a sound with no place.
