CF Foundation | Remembering Frank Deford

The Foundation remembers legendary sports journalist Frank Deford, whose young daughter, Alex, lost her fight to cystic fibrosis in 1980. Deford served as the chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees from 1982 to 1999, and recorded the life of Alex in the book "Alex: the Life of a Child." To honor Alex's memory, he initiated the Alex Award, given each year by the Foundation to a person with CF who is a role model to others with the disease.

I did not know that Frank had passed away. I'm very happy to see this lovely remembrance. I read his book when I was a teenager and never stopped being interested in CF research and advancements. I'm just one person, I'm sure he inspired SO many thousands of people just like me to know more and try to do more. What a wonderful humanitarian.
