well, you are meant to fail a ton of times, so you actually do end up seeing most, if not all of the story. Unless, you use a walkthrough...lol. Then, you miss the story because you're trying to beat the game in one go instead of figuring it out on your own. ;)

I would say, not really. I would say if you want a better understanding of it, I would recommend you checking out the Angry Video Game Nerd's review of the Sega CD, which this game was released on. He actually talks about 'Double Switch' in the review.
It's really more of a historical curiosity. I don't know anyone that thought FMV games were "good", even at the time. But they had some entertainment value since they were kind of a novelty. None of them were particularly fun to play since most of them have you switching from scene to scene as the core "gameplay" element. But then you also don't get to watch the movie unfold since if you're actually watching things happen, you're losing. So it's kind of the worst of both worlds.
'Bout the only good FMV games I can think of off the top of my head are Phantasmagoria and The 7th Guest...though unlike this and Night Trap, their style of FMV wasn't "real people in the real world with game mechanics strewn about" but "real people that appear or exist in a 3D video game world". Both are point and click games too, and the MS-Dos versions are available on Steam currently as well.
