Is the future of air combat going to be a bunch of cheap 4th gen jets like vipers flying around with AI instead of pilots? 🤔
Cheap. AI. Pick one, they're mutually exclusive and will remain so. This gap gets exponentially wider when weaponized 'defense' AI is packaged and marketed like a military export commodity.
Algorithmic engagement comment.
If you look at the map of Tak province so you will realize that fly into Thai airspace is easier to operate in the air especially to evade PDF + KNA manpad but last time Thai local got a bit of unwanted damage from those MIG-29 and Air chief didn't take thing seriously so RTAF got massive criticize from public so this time with new chief decide to send the jet f-16 maybe fa-50 or drone to border patrol to prevent Myanmar aircraft violate airspace and use this opportunity for more intensive training with real situation.
Other reason maybe makes them more proactive to prevent the risk to cut budget to buy new fighter jet .
I don't know much about the region, but after a quick glance at Google maps, one can deduce that Myanmar/Burma and Thailand have battled before due to the long southern coastal stretch that Myanmar controls. A nation doesn't take that much beachfront property without waging war.
Yeah, it really doesn't seem likely that the Thais want to go to war with Myanmar. But I'm sure they very much want to make sure that Myanmar's problems stay on Myanmar's side of the border, even more than usual while Myanmar is in the middle of a civil war. (There have been issues along that border for decades, but until the 2021 coup it was normally more of a law enforcement-type problem than a military one.)
There have been hundreds of thousands if not millions of illegal alien Burmese in Thailand for a long, long time.
Burma Shave.
