Great Question!! These are both different ways to make reusable graphics. Faceplates are equipment interfaces you create which are global; you create the faceplate definition, then create instances of it using the faceplate instance control. When you make changes to the faceplate definition, the instances are also updated. However faceplates have limitations. You cannot use SVG or other Library objects, picture windows, or active X like Alarm or Trend Controls. You also cannot attach process tags inside the faceplate, you have to do that on a property or script on the properties interface on the instance itself. Also VBS Script is limited to interacting with object in the faceplate, and you cannot access objects on other screens, etc. There is also a performance hit. Tag Prefix is another way to make a reusable graphic, using a WinCC Screen (PDL) , a picture window object and tags with a naming convention, i.e. Motor_1.Speed, Motor_1.Current. Motor_2.Speed, etc. You build the screen like you want it, with no limitations at all. _Any_ tag connection (script, animation, property, etc.) uses the element name (i.e. .Speed, .Current) instead of the tag name. The Picture Window has a property called "TagPrefix" where you put the Tag prefix, i.e., Motor_1, Motor_2. Then in runtime. when the picture window loads, any tag request coming from the screen (.Speed) gets the value of the TagPrefix property of the Picture Window (Motor_1) appended, so the tag request becomes "Motor_1.Speed". You can dynamically change the tag prefix value to show different equipment. See this video: ua-cam.com/video/g4ThkWbU3nI/v-deo.html Personally, I use Tag Prefix and not faceplates. This was a great question, I will make a video on this. :D

look at time 14:00 where we put the direct connect on the pump. that's how it triggers the display.

WHAT İS THE DİFFERENCE BETWEEN FACEPLATE AND TAGPREFIX
