I can't bring myself to replay the game because of the structure and pace, so I can understand.
Regardless, the game is more than just "good art" that they say they can appreciate... but don't.
@@RednGone I'm interested to see what GTA 6 will be like. I'm not holding my breath that they'll drastically change what they've done in the past... but I do wonder how their mission structure might differ after all these years with more criticism thrown at them.

RDR2 is so damn engaging. It blows my mind people don’t get sucked in by the writing and world from the first mission
I got lost in the sidequests, should've just done the main story.
I love RDR1. One of my fave games of all time. I beat RDR 2 but it didnt do anything for me. It’s gorgeous, but for some reason it didn’t click with me. Mainly the characters, I know I’m in the minority but sometimes things don’t work for an individual.
I totally agree with Greg, RDR1 was incredible but RDR2 never really grabbed me. I just couldn't get behind Arthur as a character in any way shape or form for the first 20 hours of the game and just wasn't having a good time with the game as a result. I get that the game is about his "redemption" eventually, but I think the game just makes him too much of a piece of shit for so much of the game that I just can't get into it at all. RDR1 on the other hand got me invested in John as a person and his journey within the first couple of hours and never lost me.
I Loved the story of RDR2 the gameplay was horrible though I was dragging myself through just to get to the story I respect it but I will never play it again
@@KotA-un3mdThis has been my same thought for years. I was much more engaged in the story of the first game. And while I love Arthur I still think John is a better protagonist. Even though 1 is set towards the end of the wild west I still think it had much more of a western feeling than 2
It's not just that he quit RDR2. It's the fact the scene that made him quit has one of the greatest payoffs in video game history.

Blessings explanation on why he doesnt like RDR2 with his horse dying etc..is exactly why i like it 😊. Emergent gameplay etc etc.
What annoyed me was how the same button to get on your horse was also used to punch people. I don’t know what it says about me, but I slapped so many women when trying to get on my horse in towns.
It’s funny because he likes the emergent gameplay in GTA when you crash into a civilian and get a wanted ⭐️ but in RDR 2 it’s no good?

It just meant I had to save often or be ready to book it at all times. Having 10 hours between saves is crazy.

Blessing's issue with RDR2 and dying in Saint Denis.. I love moments like that in this game. For my experience losing my favourite horse, I finished racing a guy and won the race. The guy got so angry and shot his horse with a shotgun and the rounds went through his horse into my horse and killed it, I was so mad that I killed him and threw his body off the cliff. I didn't reload because that is an experience I had that is different from everyone else.

I disagree with Bless on his RDR2 open world take. There is so much to see when going from point A to point B. I would investigate every black dot on the map that's on my path. There are so many interesting locations to explore with elite environmental storytelling.
You can’t actually do that during a mission though. If you go off the designated path during a mission the game fails you, which just weird in an open world game.
Lil bro never found the meteorite impact site or the house that was struck my a meteor, smh

edit: blessing will do the same puzzle 100 times in The Witness 2, but cant do a couple shootouts in between the most cinematic story telling to ever grace the gaming sphere.

I agree with Greg for the most part on Red Dead. First one was pretty damn great. Played through it and Undead Nightmare twice and I am someone who doesn't like cowboys or zombies. It just worked for me. In RDR1 I liked the weird, creepy-esque music when just roaming around. I like the arcadey feel of the character movements. RDR2 had its moments with like the weird people in the swamp that would randomly show up and attack you, organically going into this little school or church or whatever and then a UFO popped overhead. The Strange Man was dope in both. Idk, Arthur just didn't hit for me really. I cared about the horse more at the end. Also like Greg, I do love me some Assassin's Creed though. Not really a fan of RPG choices though. Give me the cannon choices or I'm just going to sit there with a computer trying to find the choices for the best outcomes and ending.

I rebooted RDR2 recently and there is definitely a bit of post playthrough….nostalgia? You forget how fucking slow it is when you can’t just pick up items, you gotta open every drawer and cupboard just to find some bullets and beans.
My own counterpoint is that it’s the best story in video games

I spent 2 hours in red dead hunting a bear for its pelt, near death I beat this bear, spend another half hour trotting my horse back to town. Reach literally the outskirts of town and some bandits kill me and steal my stuff... Straight up quit.

Blessing lost a lot of goodwill with his dumb comments about RDR 2. It IS a fun game, I had a blast over almost 80 hours. Don't know how he wasn't able to enjoy all the world has to offer.

My hot take is breath of the wild being my least favorite Zelda game, the world feels empty despite having some mildly fun traversal puzzles and impressive physics I couldn't care less about the world because the main conflict had no sense of urgency and the characters were all boring. And also weirds me out that everybody can talk but Link, why have talking at all?

The whole red dead 2 convo. I will never shit on this series even though I'm not a fan of westerns. My brother loves red dead and he barely plays, but we connect more because he's more interested in games now and eventually, I'll try it out one day especially because I like to RP in my games and rdr seems like I can rp in (let something happen to my horse. It's up, and I'm going awol 😂)

@@huliniswhoiam Barely plays games. My bad 😅I was at work typing from my phone that day. But yes, he loves the Red Dead games, but barely plays games. Because of Red Dead he's slowly getting back into playing games.
I also dropped Red Ded 2, played for like 25 hours. Had more fun screwing around in the open world than playing the story and the fact that Arthur didn't want to be a bad guy in the story made me just want a different game where I could just be an outlaw because that's all I want to do in the game lol.
I would go on mass killing sprees and follow that up with a scene where Arthur was sad about killing animals or something, and the tonal whiplash was too much. Every now and then I'll pop in to do crimes but I just lost interest from the dissonance happening all the time because how I was playing. Which is weird because they let you do all of that stuff even if it clashes so hard with the narrative around it.
This was a damn funny episode lmao
RDR2 story is fucking beautiful, Arthur is an awesome character, the world is insane but the game has 2 big problems for me:
- The "open world gameplay" clashes too much with the "main story gameplay". They're 2 different games fighting for your attention
- It's a game for people with a huge fucking lot of spare time. God damn, it's slow

The way Blessing talks about RDR2 is exactly how i felt about GOW Ragnarok. It was painfully structured and funneled, a transition animation ridden slog, and the story rushed it at the end. Just not a great GAME. Would have rather watched it
