I loved watching this video. I can tell you share the same passion that I have for plants. I always smile so big when I speak of my plants! Really enjoyed this!
Yay!! It is such a wonderful thing to be able to express our happiness for the beauties! They are all so pretty. Simple pleasures! Thank you for sharing you love for leaves!
I have a Mojito Alocasia that remains being small. I love your plant collection!!! Thank you so much for showing your beautiful babies!!! Have a great day!!
Thanks for watching, Elmer! I had to look up the mojito Alocasia. It is gorgeous! small or large, this one is a treasure. the speckling on the leaves are amazing to see. Thank you for sharing this new variety with me. Enjoy her!
Good morning Julie! Thank you so much. I had to look up the jewel Alocasia. They are so cute. I didn't know about this group of Alocasia. So EXCITING!!!!!! have a great Saturday!
Happy Saturday Carol!!!!! I know these plants can be a little dramatic. The regal shield was my third plant from this family. I just love to see the leaves spring out of the center. I just love them!!! Thank you for watching!
Good morning to you vary nice plants thank for sharing beautiful and amazing plants lovely collection I don't have any of those plans but I love yours have a blessed day
I love alocasias too. My favorite is my black velvet, and my azlanii, and my maharani. I'm looking to buy a pink dragon and a stingray soon but eventually I just want them all.
Good morning Shelly!! Happy Saturday! I am with you, I think I want to have them all in time. I love them. Thank you for sharing your favorite plants with me. I love those as well. The pink dragon is beautiful. I had to stop and look it up. Those stems are amazing!!!!!!!!!! Yay! Enjoy your day!
I LOVE alocasia’s! One of my favorites. My first was lauderbachiana, which is what turned me on to alocasia. But I can’t tell you which is my favorite, they’re all beautiful! Especially my Regal shield 😉. So far I’ve had success, have only lost a black velvet, but have a corm left from it that has roots. 🤞 I would love it if you would do a video on how you care for yours and how you grow corms. Thanks for sharing! 😊🪴
Good Morning, Susannah! Happy Saturday! Taffeta fabric is the perfect way to describe the look and feel of these leaves. I am so happy your baby is coming out of dormancy. There is nothing like having a beautiful leaf emerge on these beauties. Three leaves is a beautiful balance for this plant. Thank you so much for sharing you plant baby and for watching. I hope you day is filled with sunshine!!!
Alocasias are so beautiful, but so challenging. I have my Stingray (my fav) for now, but I have been tempted to try my luck with a Dragon Scale. I just love the look of full plants, like Pothos, so the minimal leaves with Alocasias makes me a little sad. Your plants have such strong stalks - that's what I want for my baby. Plus, they can get so BIG and I don't have room for that, unfortunately. 😆
Good morning, GH! Happy Saturday! 😃 yes, they are beautiful! I have a couple on my radar. The dragon scale is an amazing plant it seems as if the leaves are too heavy for the stems, but they hold them up perfectly. I agree, the full plants are so beautiful!
Happy Sunday Carmen!!! Thank you so much. This seems to be a difficult group of plants. Some how I fell on conditions that some of them like. If you give another one a try, I hope it is a happy experience!!!! Enjoy your day!
Wow! Rachael; your alocasias are absolutely stunning. I love Alocasias. I want to say my favorite is the stingray, which by the way I just now acquired my first one I’m so happy 😁 I found her. Thanks for sharing. I did not know that alocasias thrives in none draining pots. What are the benefits of none draining pots? I just love your collection.
Thank you so much Hyacinth! For me I like the non drainage because it holds the moisture for my plants. I do not have a humidifier in my bedroom. the air is very dry. This keeps the plant nice and moist, but the clear pot makes it easy to see if the plant has too much moisture in the root area. no guessing at all.
Yes, they sure do. I have to scrub these leaves all the time. So far I have been able to keep ahead of them, but it is a lot of work. Thank you for watching MamaLong!
oh my goodness i cannot choose a favorite alocasia! 😅 I have 7 varieties...I guess I'd say my polly, I have a special place in my heart for her since she was my first alocasia. went through all the struggles, but like you mentioned, she is a strong one!
About 4 years ago I had spider mites on my plumeria which was outside. I got ride of them by wiping them daily off with a paper towel wet with mild soapy liquid, till they were all gone. I did not know what else to do about them, but they did go away after that. They are so strange with their webs like a spider but so many of them! I don't ever want to seen them again. Favorite Alocasia? I am not sure... I am partial to the velvety kind, but I like all plants. I am in California, in the southern desert end of the state. I don't see very many Alocasia's in the stores here, though I did manage to snag 4 different kinds. One black velvet, one polly (or similar), one pink princess something or other and another which was called the same thing as the pink princess but I think it was mislabeled because it looks very different from the other one which has tall and slender stems/petioles and this one is short and squat. I'd like to expand my collection, but I am running out of space and and I meant to say earlier, many varieties are hard to come by. For example, I have yet to lay eyes on a sting ray. Maybe on line, but a lot of sellers and growers will not ship to California because of regulations so it's a matter of looking for someone local who doesn't charge for top dollar.
Happy Saturday Cate!!! Yes, spider mites are terrible to find on your plant baby. My hostas had them last summer. I had to treat them all. ARGH!!! that was terrible, but they made it through. The pink princess is beautiful!!! I love that one. yes, the sting ray sells for a lot of money from private sellers. In store they are much more reasonable for a starter plant. Mine was in a 4" pot for $6.99, but home depot has them with very, very large leaves for $29.99. Very reasonable. Thank you so much for sharing your plant babies with me. have a great day!!
Love me some Alocasia! Loved this video! Many thanks for sharing your pretty Alocasias with us. Oddly enough my favorite Alocasia of the ones I own is the Alocasia Low Ryder. She’s so plump and chunky. She averages about seven leaves at a time and she’s a joy to grow. I only have eight in total but I love this genus. Always on the lookout for a new one! Take care. 👌🪴🥰
Hi Peggy! I had to look up a picture of the low rider. This is my first time hearing of it. She is gorgeous! Oh, she must be a real star in your collection! I love her! ❤️ thank you for sharing your favorite!
Rachel I don’t own any Alocasias, I was thinking about buying the Polly(because I hear it’s the easiest) but for some reason that plant looks creepy to me😂😂. I’ve heard it called the African mask😂and that’s what it reminds me of. GREAT COLLECTION
Thank you, Melissa! Yes, the Polly is one of the easier plants in this plant family. I understand your feelings about it looking creepy. Most people love to see cactus flowers, but they really creep me out! Lol! It is what it is. We love most of them, though. Enjoy your saturday!
I am trying to do research to find out just how to care for her. I have a home depot that almost always has them. It will give them a visit. I'm obsessed!

I have a sting ray, silver dragon, azlanii. So far the sting ray is easiest for me. Thanx for the no touching tip idk that. The one alocasia I'm in love w but havent even found in person yet is dragons breath. The leaf shape is sublime for my taste. May I quickly ask what ur treatment is? :)
Oh, wow!! I just looked up what the dragons breath looks like. It is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love the leaf shape. My treatment is a spray bottle with water, a small cap of dish soap, peroxide, olive oil and cedar oil. pests hate cedar oil, and the olive oil is very thick to make the treatment stick. It works every time!!! Thanks for watching!
Happy Saturday Mona!!!! I just spray with my cedar oil mixture and I make sure I get every crack. I give it a good shower after I spray them. I normally only have to treat it one time. The cedar oil is amazing!!!
@planttherapy1860 I mix just a cap full in a large spray bottle of water with a cap of olive oil and another cap of castile soap or dish soap. Oh, i add a little hydrogen peroxide as well. It works instantly!
Szia. The plants are beautiful. Almost as beautiful as your smile. Thank you very much.💚💚💚💚💚🐞🌻🌼🌷🌹
Happy Saturday Oreg!!!! Thank you so much!!!

For me it's a tie between the dragons . They are so gorgeous.
I love the dragons as well!!!! they are perfectly named. they look like plants from a fairytale. Thank you for watching Linda!!

Love the size of your regal shield. Mine has 3 big leaves and starting to emerge from dormancy. Beautiful leaves remind me of taffeta fabric. 💚🇨🇦

Hi Rachael! Lol, excuse my manners. Lol. I love your collection. That huge alocasia is gorgeous. Lol.
LOL!!! You are find Mona. Thank you so much. I love her so much. This plant makes me so happy!!!
I see why. I want to get something like that for the backyard, but I don't think I can keep it alive in the off season
your mystery plant surely is a regal shield. I've had starter plants of it on my wishlist since I just don't have the space for a mature one.
Thank you so much Mel!!! I know that it was marked as a regal. I had two growing side by side the other was just huge.
cupreas are difficult girl! I have two and I completely understand!
