      Sure no problem! It’s a combination of Ultra Bee pollen supplement mixed with Olive Leaf Extract. I mix 4 parts UB to 1 part OLE. 🐝

      For EFB, I dust DFM by Mann Lake. 🐝

    Hi doc, what are your thoughts on the AFB resistance Queens that are being advertised for sale ?

      Ooh, great question. I can see both sides of the coin: one being a great benefit to bees and beekeepers. The other a bit wary messing with nature like that. I do not think that I am informed enough to say anything against it but my own personal practices lean heavily towards natural beekeeping. I believe honey bees are perfectly fine the way they are and that rather than change their DNA or give them a vaccine for things like foulbrood, I prefer to find ways of preventing the foulbrood. Thanks and would welcome what anyone else has to say as well. 🐝

      @@thehivedoctor13 Great video, I have seen some Pure Russians around that people claim are "Inoculated" to AFB by exposing queens to Dead/Inactive spores. Although I can't say for certain if it works at all. I believe the method is called "Dalan bee inoculation technology". Some interesting stuff there.

    I watched one of your vids where I believe you talked about correcting your rate of treatment. Can you please specify again how much to give the Mann Lake Pro DFM and for how long?

    • @thehivedoctor13

      Yeah of course! I dust about a teaspoon of DFM across the top bars once a week for a total of three times. I actually just ran out and need to get more. 🐝

      And you can do that three to four times a year in my opinion. Not too often but often enough. Perhaps every other month during the beekeeping season.

    Because over treatment with antibiotics has caused more harm than good. Antibiotics should not be used in preventative treatment. That’s why a Veterinarian must be involved.

      Ahhh, so you’re saying their use is being measured out or limited because of that. I gotcha

      Antibiotics are extremely overused in the show animal industry. I raised show pigs for years… I was spending more money on medicine than anything else because we have killed their immune systems with medication in feed and overall use of injectable meds.
      I’m really focused on finding natural methods… especially with bees. The problem is, in the US, we kill so many medicinal plants that they use for their own treatments

      @@thehivedoctor13 another question one of my mentees asked is can she use oa pads to treat for mites rather than using an oa vaporizer now as opposed to using the vaporizer for the next 3 weeks?

    • @thehivedoctor13
      @thehivedoctor13  3 місяці тому

      @stanleyjones6705 Hmmm, I have never used OA pads however if she chooses to use them, make sure they’re not dripping wet because everything I have seen/heard from fellow beekeepers who drip OA kill their brood. The pads are less effective because rather than vapors that fill the hive, bees must come into physical contact with the pads. So in conclusion, try it with caution. Check on the bees the next day snd see what’s happening. 🐝
