    How frustrating to have a new freezer break that fast. I remember the year after my first child was born my in laws bought me a freezer for Christmas. I was so disappointed. Couldn't imagine what they thought I was going to do with it. But now....37 years later I'm so grateful for it. Her freezer that her in laws bought for her lasted 40 years! It was great when my kids were growing up and now during that pandemic has come in extra handy!
    I hope yours gets fixed and gives you years of service.

    Instead of making meals, you could also cook the meats. Package them in the portion sizes you'll need and place in the other freezers. When you need the meat, already cooked and/or seasoned helps a lot!

    Just wanted to share an incredibile recipie for a pasta sauce with you, it’s soooo good and very easy to make. You need equal parts of finely grated carrots ( the one part that is a bit annoying is the grating😄) and leek cut into fine rings. Let the leeks get transparent in a frying pan and then add the grated carrots and fry until softened. Season with soy sauce to taste, to get that saltiness and add cream. Let it all simmer for 15-20 minutes and just before taking the pan off the heat, add grated Parmesan cheese and stir. You won’t believe how tasty it is!

    the company that sold you freezer or warranty should cover all that meat that was unthawed. take pictures and give them a receipt of all that beef. I worked at Lowes and they would give $ for that exact reason or the warranty company of the freezer should cover it.

    • @Karmacalifornia67
      @Karmacalifornia67 4 роки тому +8

      Maroxa Livesfree Lowes always gave a food allowance if it unthawed especially as much meat she had in that freezer. But she shouldn't be inconvenienced to have to try and cook everything. Some food doesn't do well if unthawed then cooked then refrozen unless you have one of those big freezer that freeze quickly so bacteria doesn't have time to get into the meat.

    • @curlybibliophagist2
      @curlybibliophagist2 4 роки тому

      @Maroxa Livesfree I don't think so. While she may be able to salvage some stuff, she still has lost value. What she planned as food for 6 months or whatever now needs to be used immediately and it is lesser quality because it lost temperature. She gave away roasts too. A food spoilage warranty comes when you buy an extended warranty and usually maxes out at $300, which is nothing compared to the cost of your food in your freezer.

I just found a wireless alarm for the freezers - the alarm part is on magnets and you can put it on your fridge and see the temp of your freezers at all times and it will alarm once the temperature rises to a point determined by you. You are correct. Freezers can’t be found right now. Our freezer did this a few weeks ago. We made a huge pot of soup and cooked everything we could. My husband is pretty handy and took the back off the freezer and a lizard had gotten into the fan on the back and that had stopped it from working. He got the dead lizard out of there. We cleaned it all out good after salvaging what we could. Plugged it back up and it is working good now. We bought some freezer sensors with a remote so we can keep a check on the temp. Praying it keeps on working until we can finally find a new one. This one is at least 25 years old. We keep it in our garage...so that’s how the lizard got in there.

    Love it sarah !!!! I meal prepped like this to when my freezer went out, but I did call up my neighbors and explain what happened and I gave out alot.
    My motto was "biggest personal/spiritual blessings happen when you bless others out of your own disasters" and we know God loves it when his children take care of his other children, in ALL SITUATIONS! ❤🤗

    😭 This triggered me. A couple of weeks ago our deep freezer went out and my husband didn’t notice until he went to get something out of the freezer and everything was already bad. So much meat wasted. And I lost 2+ months of breast milk. It wasn’t even that the freezer was broken. A fuse had blown and we didn’t know because that outlet didn’t have a reset button. Apparently that outlet was connected to multiple other outlets on the circuit in the garage and we didn’t know. The freezer was ruined though. No amount of cleaning would have gotten that smell out.

    Great decisions on what to do with all that thawed meat. Maybe vary what’s in your freezers so you have a variety in each freezer. Don’t have one freezer with just meat. Thank you so much for showing my wristlet keychain. I hope you can use it. Your children are fun to watch.

    I would love some homeschool breakdowns. I'm going to be homeschooling my 4th grader and preschooler coming this fall and would love to see a "day in the life" of that chaos. Or maybe a sit down video

    I’ve had that happen. The freezer breaking down right after we filled it. So frustrating. I totally know how you feel. ☺️

    Oh my!! So sorry about your freezer. Last year we had to thaw out our refrigerator and freezer for 2 days and put everything into coolers it was a little bit of pain but we only had to throw out a few things.

    Wow! That’s not good, but it’s great that you were able to keep your cool when the freezer couldn’t keep its self cool! I also love storms! Also, Solo backing up was the cutest thing! Stay safe guys! Oh, and I saw that my local Lowe’s has freezers, so it might be worth a shot!😸😻😸

    Sarah, if tour lettuce get too abundant like mine has, I was it and then wrap it in paper towels and place it in a plastic Walmart bag. It keeps for about a month in the fridge. Make sure not to drain the lettuce too much, it needs to wet the paper towels well.

    I realize this is a little late, and a little off topic, but do you have an induction stovetop? And if so, where do you get your pots? I'm moving someplace that has induction tops and I think I need new pots because the ones I have won't work.....

    Oh my I know all that work you had to do ours died a year ago yuck way to go with saving what you can. I didn't know you can freeze cooked ground beef and just add it into things. I have recently done this with onions, peppers and jalapenos easy to just toss in a pan when cooking to incorporate more veggies in your meals. Hope you are all doing well.

    There is a beef recipe that we love - it is a Middle Eastern dish called- Yukney- Use roast. I sue cast iron pot- you bring it to a boil reduce temp. Cook it on top stove till it falls apart. (I have made this in a crock pot too but not if it is frozen. ) when it is cooked to falling apart stage- way I do it is add chunky Veg. spaghetti sauce and 2 cans of green beans. Serve this over rice. Some just use diced tomatoes 2 reg size cans instead of the spaghetti sauce. I am not a stewed tomato fan.

    I've been binge watching your Pantry Challenges and Cooking Vid's and you have got me thinking 🤔... Bacon Bit's are one of my all time fav's on Salad's, in Sandwiches. Now I am wondering if it is possible to make your own bacon bit's and if they would turn out the same as the store purchased ones. It could possibly be a great saving too.. 🧐 🥓

    Our big freezer seemed to be a bit on the fritz as well...it was running...not loudly, it just didnt feel as cold as it usually does. We have a small chest freezer that was unplugged and totally empty, so we plugged it in and transferred all meats, dog food (she eats a raw diet), etc. The only stuff left in the big freezer is basically bread stuff, which is fine to refreeze if it defrosts. I think the plan this weekend is to unplug the big freezer, let it completely defrost, then plug it back in. Long story short, so thankful we kept our little chest freezer rather then get rid of it when we got the big one lol

    Our upright freezer has stopped a couple of times. Someone told us to shake it really hard ; dust gets in the Freon. Both times, it started working again.
