Another option is capping the tip with hot glue. I've been using this method for a few years and it works like a charm every time. Even after a year it's as if it was a freshly opened tube. One of the best tips I've ever picked up on UA-cam.
you could also cut off a strip of Electrical tape, fold it over the top and on to each end but leave about a half inch over the opening, then flatten it down with your fingers. same concept but maybe cheaper?
What size shrink tube is that?

Never never never would have thought of this, very clever! Will be testing this out
Got tired of always having rusted (from the nails)/dried out-plugged/caulk-had some extra shrink tubing, and it works wonderfully. Thanks for watching

Tried tape, it doesn't have a strong enough seal, it leaks and still dries out-thanks for watching
well i typed in something else but thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching
Sorry - nevermind - rewatched and I heard you say half inch. Thx
Cost of the caulk now makes it necessary to try to save it-and this works nice-thanks for watching
