I was enjoying the video until 1.21 when a clip of koi carp was inserted to illustrate fish species. I lived on the lake shore at Kalemie for over two years managing a fish collecting and export station and can assure you that koi are a European species and nowhere near the lake. A poor editorial choice and one that could easily have been avoided. The following clip shows tilapia either drying on the lake shore or at a market. This too is not an endemic. There are many beautiful and unique cichlid species in the lake which could have been used to illustrate this presentation, whose inclusion would have added immensely to the video, and whose images and videos are widely available on the Internet. I have some fond memories of my time on Tanganyika, the exploits I participated in, and the people I met and worked with. I would encourage anyone to travel there and experience the immensity and the power of this great lake. Twende!
