The rain you were getting at the end of the video, Ellie would be enough to create a flash flood. But also remember it doesn't have to rain where you are for a flash flood to happen. It can happen from rain falling further upstream of your location. So the thunder you heard was an early warning of possible Flash Flooding in that canyon/crevasse.

Your stopping around my old hikes. Nice job. You should go to the San Rafel Swell in eastern Utah. If you go there, hike the Little Wild Horse canyon. Make sure it's not raining. It's beautiful.
That was awesome. I wanna go. The flash floods usually come from storms way upstream. You may not even be aware of the storm. Can't wait to get my CT. I will be tempting fate, perhaps getting to see if they actually float and can navigate short distances through water. I've seen many videos of M3s doing it in China as they are having a really bad flood year. I also want to check out that Mexican place on one of your other videos near Starbase.
Very cool! Being a rock geek, and an "A.D.D. poster child" I can spend hours looking at rocks along creek beds, each one tells a story and adds to my pack weight. While greatly hindering my forward motion land speed record, I always manage to find that "one rock". Happy trails!
Sweet little hike! I've camped for two weeks at Canyonlands, hiked to Arch and went to other places I never knew the name of, but we didn't make it to Bryce. I love the mountain bike tire marks on your car's ceiling. :)
One piece of advice, buy a Garmin hiker's GPS and get the 50,000:1 topo map of the area you are in. It's cheap insurance and at least you can find your way back if you get lost. I'd hate to read about you one day or hear that Heavy D has his aircraft fleet up assisting in the search for you (which is probably how I'd hear about it all the way down under). If you are going to make a habit of hiking I'd also recommend either a Sattilitte communicator (send a text or an SOS message from anywhere in the world tagged with your GPS location as well as basic mapping) or a personal EPIRB. I've conducted too many SAR missions and seen the results too many times to ever take being out of contact and/or not knowing where I am too often to take it lightly.
I'm glad you didn't tell the park workers you snuck all 90 of us (so far) onto the trail. Wouldn't want the place to get crowded [eye roll] with all those other hikers swarming the place.
