- 2010 marks the Silver Jubilee of one of British sport's golden moments - the 1985 World Championship Snooker final. At its peak, over 18 and a half million people sat glued to their sets as Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor battled past midnight to a final and deciding black ball.
of all the snooker finals this is the one that will be remembered ....the underdog beats highly rated opponent .....and the crowd were right behind him all the way
And Steve Davis is now one of the funniest coolest comedians in snooker. Amazing.
1985, 15 years old. Taylor, Becker and Queen at Live Aid, wow what a year for a spotty British kid!
I know exactly where I was when Dennis won ... I was glued to my television screen in my small flat in Amsterdam. I had to take the next day off as I was unable to go to work after only 3 hours of sleep :D
Love that final.what's the name of that theme played in the background?fits the moment of a great final
the day after, every1 at school was imitating Dennis, great memories
What is the song at the end? It's cute :)
WOW does he EVER look like RW! It's uncanny!
His sister was right, everyone knows where they were when he won it, funny enough the majority of them were watching the TV. Ive met Denis a few times and had dinner with him in The Sheraton in Bangkok. He's a wicked guy and his wife Louise. Deserved it more than anyone, well done Dennis.
Steve Davis is my favourite player he should've won the title 8,9 or even 10 times but i don't want to take away the glory of Dennis because he grafted for that title & deserved it & the same could be said about that unknown the year after lol
Dennis Taylor looks exactly like Polish actor Robert Wieckiewicz. Appart from the glasses, they are dopplegangers:)
SOME PAIR OF WINDOWS
go on the taylor!!!!
Davis: 'Yeah, it happened in black and white' hehehehe...what a comment
Steve threw it away that night, missed so many balls & should have won 18-15 & cut a thin ball into middle & ended up being unluckily snookered & if he got onto brown would have been all over. In last frame Davis used rest from red into yellow pocket & followed through for pink & was a hair width out & just a hair width more would have been all over. But yeah Steve should have won but that's not how it ended & Steve was below his best & only played good in first session but well done Dennis Taylor for staying we Steve over that 2 days!
