With inward plucking, you have more controll over the sound.. Outward plucking(when i do it) gives a harser, non-pure sound.. The reed maybe oscillates too much sideways..
Awesome video! Reminds me of the first time I ordered a "Whitlow" from Robbie Clement. He asked if I was an innie or an outie? I thought he was talking about my belly button. He said it would change how he made the harp for me and of course he guarantees his Harps whichever way you pluck.
I use both plucks depending on what harp I'm using. I only pluck my Szilagyi harps outward mostly due to it's soft and flexible reed. Other harps with stiffer reeds, I tend to pluck inward to avoid injury and jaw harp damage.
I had no idea plucking inward would extend the life of my harp, I do both inward & out plucking for diff sounds and tones. I agree inward plucking does have a idk how to say it but a crisper note than outward is kind of raspy. awesome vid
i use to pluck out but plucking in sounds better on most harps that i have also some harps like glazyrins wave made not for complex plucking it says in description i still play in out hard on it and that lead to tongue off set out about one mm that looks alot for me i saw your fixing reed video i'm thinking try to fix it but it's pretty hard on that harp reed it's werry fexible and need bas ass bend to set it in place scared to broke it if something happens im gonna buy same wave again cuz it is my faworite harp
