@@frankbing1 Hi Frank I am certain they never operated the A380 from MAN. My wife worked for SQ MAN for 17 years when they used to operate the 747-400 then it went to the B777 before the A350 took over. I do think they may have had a diversion in on a A380 though. Cheers.

I like the A380 for it's size but I will always have my first love which is the 747-4 and it's series. If you flew commercial air in the 70's and 80's you can't help but adore the 747.
Have flown Emirates regularly to Dubai since 2005 when they first started operating the 380. Usually 1sr class. The difference now to then is tremendous. You basically get your own room and amenities including showers are available.
Glad I finally got to watch this Speedbird, great video well done buddy! Love the view from that location too. Thanks for sharing and great camera work!! 👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Quite simply a lack of coordination from the control tower which resulted in a misinterpretation of the information given by it to the pilot of the A380 who had to wait his turn! This kind of incident is very dangerous!
Thanks buddy. I throughly enjoyed watching this aborted take off a couple of times myself. Glad I was there to share this aborted take off for everyone 👍✈👍

Rolls may make a good engine but their maintenance is shite. Twice now Qantas has had engines explode to Roll's substandard maintenance practices, once in Nov. 4, 2010 and another on May 20, 2017. The first was due to cross threading a stub oil pipe and the latter due to corrosion of fan blades caused by improper cleaning procedures.
Love flying in this big bird to Dubai such luxury go often to see family love being able to have a shower before landing and you feel so fresh service is wonderful.
Really know how to make me jealous. Maybe one day for me. Glad you enjoyed the video and that it brought back memories for you. Thanks for watching 👍✈👍
There has been a few comments about the cars. But every arrival and departure ive seen they have been there. The wind vortex created by the 380 would definitely have been a factor. Maybe the helicopter was low on fuel and couldn't wait ? But appreciate your comment and taking time to watch 👍😊
@@speedbird0094 Air traffic doesn't work like that. They should never have cleared the A380 for take off with the helicopter approaching on a converging heading, which no doubt triggered a TCAS alert in the A380 mandating an abort.
I appreciate you comment. We could discuss this all year and we shall never really know what actually went on that day. I tried to find an incident report and failed.
@@speedbird0094 We will know what happened as there will be an official report on the incident. The helo pilot is a professional and would not simply bust his ATC clearance at a major airport and barge into the runway area without a clearance. So either he misunderstood his clearances limit, or was erroneously so cleared by ATC. Or the A380 commenced T/O without a clearance (highly unlikely in my book). I don't think you are familiar with how aviation works if you think the helo pilot appeared to everyone's surprise because he was short of fuel. Like I said, it just does not work like that, If it did, it would lead to accidents.not mere incidents. If you were a pilot, you would know that. And if you were a pilot, I would not be having to waste time explaining this basic stuff.
Wow. Calm down bro. The helicopter didn't appear out of nowhere. Its based there. Its the local police helicopter and had been on a call out for some time. I've always maintained that its only my own personal opinion that it must have been low on fuel and given emergency clearance. Yes someone maybe got in a tangle that day. Maybe ATC maybe the 380 pilot but until we see any report we shall just have our own opinions. I have never said I was an expert in these matters. I just love planes and filming them. As my channel says " the planes are the stars" and just for fun. Im just an amateur trying to spread a little joy for others that enjoy planes. Take a chill pill buddy.
Had my flight on an a380 (Qantas) last year from london Heathrow to Sydney. Granted, I was in premium economy, but it was one of the best flights I’ve ever taken - in fact it was just the best! I’ve never been so comfortable in my life! I’d fly premium economy on an a380 again over virgin or ba products, and even some airlines coffins, sorry I mean business class (take note BA)
Even after decades of air travel, it still amazes me how something like that can get off the ground, let alone fly so high with people in it. I'll still never get on one. Way too dangerous. It's wrong to me that we're even up there. Then there's space, we shouldn't be there.
I can understand what you mean, if we were meant to fly we'd have wings but I love travelling by plane. Its an amazing sight in real life and I hope that comes across through my video's Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Appreciated 👍✈👍
With respect the police were cleared for approach and landing by ATC. ATC deemed it safe to allow the arrival and landing of the helicopter to coincide with the departing Airbus. Obviously the Airbus Captain can overrule if he thinks it’s conflicted

I have picked up a group of Japanese plane enthusiasts in my tour coach the aim of the tour was to see the A380 Quanta’s landing and taking off the other attraction was to fly the Air NZ simulator.
They are doing a FOD check after every HEAVY departure / arrival due to the outboard engines and thrust generated from the beast can tear up the asphalt, blow rocks, grass etc , what I can see the copter had nothing to do with the aborted departure. I believe it was some type of onboard issue that needed to be resolved.
I can only go on what information I was given at the time. You may be correct as this exact plane had an issue a few days before with the landing gear.
I live under the flight path from Birmingham, have flown from there, but it's still amazing how busy it is. I first visited in my teens, 50 years ago, when it was still known as Elmdon, and the solitary building and flight tower were on the other side of the site. There were a handful of flights a day, we were meeting someone from Düsseldorf. Just seeing an airplane was an event back then. I saw the helicopter, thought it was a drone at first, it was so tiny. Wonder why it was there? Seems irresponsible to try to land at the airport with some many alternative landing sites
I read your comment with intrest as I also grew up and lived underneath the flightpath of bhx (by the macadown) and also watched the growth of bhx from elmdon. As I've in previous comments the noise in those days of bac1-11s vicounts etc etc was incredible and the soot too. It was the local police helicopter and is based at the Elmdon side of the airport. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks 😊

No the other way around. The 380 would have taken off just before the police helicopter. The only thing I could think off it was so low on fuel it had to take priority. Appreciate you watching and your kind words 👍✈👍
@@speedbird0094 If the helo had been a flight emergency the A380 would have been held until the helo had landed. What happened here was either an ATC screw-up or the helo pilot exceeding his ATC clearance limit and getting too close to the A380. The A380 in any case will generate no wake vortex until airborne, which would have been well beyond the helo.
I appreciate your thoughts here but the real answer is we shall never really know. I carry a radio now and I'd only just started filming when this incident took place. Its provoked all kinds of comments and to think I thought this video was too long to put up at the time.

How did BHX ATC allow two vehicle's to drive to the rear of an A380 at take off thrust, the amount thrust is enormous . Be interested to know the safe driving distance is behind an A380.
No, four engines at take off thrust setting is over 200,000Lbs, going behind that is just crazy, love to hear from BHX ATC or Airside ops for there procedures.
I'll check it out for sure soon but im sure the airside vehicles would normally do a runway inspection after the 380 has departed. Once departure had been aborted the vehicles would need to follow the 380 to be behind it when it did finally depart to do their checks. Will try to get a definite answer during the week 👍
@@speedbird0094 Thank you for your continued thoughts on this. The two vehicles where moving at a fast pace left to right directly behind an A380 at take off power, that breaks all the procedures of driving to the rear of turbofan engines under high power each engine is pushing 72,000lbs of thrust X 4. As stated the second vehicle hesitated briefly before continuing on. As an airside driver, and your stream illustration shows any one would question this procedure. Does BHX airside operations do a runway inspection on all A380 arrivals and departures?. Anyone working airside and holds airside driving permit, would question that decision to drive behind the worlds largest and most powerful commercial airplane.

The side seats are staggered at an angle, so no legs to climb over when getting to the Loo. The bar at the rear for drinks and snacks, love the plane. Sadly, the leg from Saigon to Dubia is on a B777 nice but not great.@@gewglesux

I like the A380 for it's size but I will always have my first love which is the 747-4 and it's series. If you flew commercial air in the 70's and 80's you can't help but adore the 747.

Quite simply a lack of coordination from the control tower which resulted in a misinterpretation of the information given by it to the pilot of the A380 who had to wait his turn! This kind of incident is very dangerous!

Stunning plane is the A380 especially when fitted with the Rolls engine
The sound is incredible. 👍
Rolls Royce Trent 900
Rolls may make a good engine but their maintenance is shite. Twice now Qantas has had engines explode to Roll's substandard maintenance practices, once in Nov. 4, 2010 and another on May 20, 2017. The first was due to cross threading a stub oil pipe and the latter due to corrosion of fan blades caused by improper cleaning procedures.

Surprised a helicopter nearby stopped this departure. Even more surprised at how close those marshalling cars got to the A380!

Certainly look good on those Emirates Ads!
I know that the pilot wasn't too happy with ATC 😁

Would a helicopter really create that much wind vortex for the mighty A380? Great video btw.

How did BHX ATC allow two vehicle's to drive to the rear of an A380 at take off thrust, the amount thrust is enormous . Be interested to know the safe driving distance is behind an A380.
There must be some guidelines they must follow but something that is worth investigating. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
No, four engines at take off thrust setting is over 200,000Lbs, going behind that is just crazy, love to hear from BHX ATC or Airside ops for there procedures.
@@speedbird0094 you can see the second vehicle hesitate, and then proceed, just crazy procedure.
