Hadassa was born on Feb. 23, 1928 in Nevel, in the Ukraine. Her parents, Rabbi Zalman and Saranee Schneerson, fled Soviet rule and went to Palestine in 1935. From there, they moved to France where they spent the war years and in 1947 immigrated to America.
