Forgot what a great album Fairport 9 is, Trevor shines here. Has anybody seen Swarb singing at a Cropedy show with a ciggy dangling from his mouth? Ha! Thanks so much for posting this. To Althea From Prison was also a Swarb masterpiece from Nine.
a rare chance to see the great Australian singer/writer Trevor Lucas on tape and sad knowing he would die just seven years later of a heart attact at age of 45 and just four years after poor Sandy died as a result of her fall down her friend's stairs. I wonder if Sandy and Trevor's daughter Georgia (born 1978) has seen these music treasures and realizes how much her parents meant to so many for so many years. What a treat to see these live performances unearthed from so far back!
You're hardly aware of Dave Mattacks until you hear Fairport without him. Then you fully understand how crucial he is to the sound. This is a stellar line-up.
Ah, if only this could replace Over the Rainbow on BBC1 we'd have a better world. Nine was the first Fairport album I heard, driving with friends round Ireland in about 97. We sang this and Big William over and over.

His finest song.
Swarb sure gets my dog howling.
Beautiful. I love the fiddle solo, puffing or otherwise...
