Kon-Tiki Official Trailer #2 (2012) - Joachim Rønning Movie HD
Ostensibly the story about legendary explorer Thor Heyerdahl and his epic crossing of the Pacific on a balsa wood raft in 1947.
I haven't seen this movie. But believe it or not I have actually met the great man Thor Heyerdahl himself in the 80s. A very gentle and charming character. More of an academic than an adventurer I would say. He told me that the most dangerous trip unbelievably was not Kon-Tiki but his first trip to Fatu Hiva in the 30s.
jiros00 that’s really cool actually
Ahh My father did too!
@@ingridm.c7027 Cool. The reason my family knew him is because my Norwegian grandfather was the architect who designed the museum where Kon Tiki is displayed in Oslo. Are you Norwegian?
Mr Heyerdhal single handedly colored my dreams a child to become a history and geography buff from a not so prominent corner of the planet. This was the stuff of epics! I am sure he would have done that for millions of others too! Wish we had more like him today... who would put their lifes on the line for Science!
@@gamernerd7139 Thanks for that. An inspiring man clearly. Am glad he inspired you and millions of others. I wish I'd met him when I was older. I was too young to fully appreciate his achievements (I hadn't read his books or anything). I was only 11 when I met him the last time. When I told my geography teacher about him (a man who did appreciate his achievements and had read his books on Kon-Tiki and Ra) he almost fainted. TH was his hero. He called my mother to check my story was true. Anyway good luck in your endeavours.
Such an underrated movie.
One of the best I've ever seen!
***** You should be proud of this movie mate!
All Dutch movies (I'm from The Netherlands) suck!!!
***** Looks interesting. One of the Kon-Tiki actors plays in it.
I like war movies so I'll keep my eye on that one, thanks!
There's a lot of good Norwegian and Swedish movies, you should also check out ARN.
How does it compare to the documentary made in 1950 using the real footage from Heyerdahl's expedition? Also does the film note that his theory was false?
M_Dutch97 what war movie?
This is a great movie! So underrated! I highly recommend it!
Thor & Co. were a true example of mankind's determination for discovery. Kudos to the movie team for sending us back in time and experience this fantastic adventure of the human spirit.
The VFX in this movie is absoulutely incredible and breathtaking.
Pål Sverre Valheim Hagen is such a beautiful man.He reminds me of a young James
Stewart.
The book explains how the green balsa wood saved them from destruction. The sap countered the salt water. Had they used aged balsa wood, the wood would have absorbed the salt water, and sank the Kon-tiki!
I watched the documentary with the real Thor Heyerdahl as a kid and found it awesome. I later read the book which is both a great adventure and a study of human courage and endurance, while showing evidence that primitive man could cross vast stretches of ocean. This movie does an excellent job recreating the actual voyage that Heyerdahl and his team undertook. Sadly he passed away several years before this movie was made; it would have been nice to know his feelings about it.
Awsome! Im from "larvik" where Heyerdahl was born and raised xP
I saw this at TIFF. Definitely recommend it. Happy to see it is getting wide distribution.
My mother worked at the post office in Lillehammer during the winter olympics in 94. She helped Thor's wife getting hold of a collection of stamps or something and as thanks he sent us two signed personal pictures from RA II.
Thor Heyerdahl and his men travel 8000 km over the Pacific, when he finally arrives at Polynesia he opens up the letter from his wife which only contain bitching about him not spending enough time with her and the kids and she is going to take everything he owns and leave him.
The moral of this movie is: Women are only a burden.
oath that part was so brutal
Sabrina Giordano The directors of this film direct Pirates 5
If that's so, you should avoid relationships with them. He focused on pursuit of his happiness, she on hers. Relationships demands sacrifice on both sides.
JUST WATCHED IT .MAGIC.MAKES ME WANT TO TRAVEL...
it's a bloody well developed movie, and you, sr, should go watch it!
How can someone dislike this? And he did prove what he wanted to do, but people will never see real life, it's like telling people Jesus was just an old story tale even when now days we can see the true, people will always deny it! But who to blame right? People rather live in a fantasy world instead of the real one. I do love the real one better though!
Hot blonde and blue-eye actors especially the guys who played Knut and Torstein. Norwegian hunks!
I read the original book when I was a kid, fascinating stuff! Can't wait to see this movie, looks like an excellent adaptation, without today's Hollywood crap. Not that there aren't any good Hollywood movies coming out these days, it's just that the subject matter is so different.
the discoveries of all the polynesian islands by europeans showed they were all inhabited by people of asian descent. Taht was impossible according to the great achievements of the european thought of mastership and culture.
But it was just a fact thes island had cultures by its own. it was already known by the years 1500- 1700...and then Thor Heyerdahl came again with the complete insulting theory...this man is just a footnote in history
Amazing movie and one of the best I've ever seen, based on a true story. Truly amazing courage and fortitude by a man that believed in something so passionately he would risk his life to prove his theory was right. Fantastic cinematography.
as a swedie, the movie make me be proud to be scandinavian!
saw this film last night. DAMN i,m proud to be Norwegian. Heyerdahl,s last expedition was ment to be a journy to find out where Odihn came from. to sad he died. R.I.P Heyerdahl, you are a legend!
Just saw it today. Such a beautiful movie!
This is not the norwegian version of Jaws, Castaway, The Reef, Life of PI etc. This is based on a real story shortly after WW2 when Thor Heyerdahl, a now deceased norwegian explorer who with his crew proved that it was possible to cross the Pacific on a raft made from balsa wood and that people from South America inhabited the Polynesian islands pre-Columbus. There´s even a documentary out which won an Academy Award back in 1951.
Heyerdahl was trying to prove his theory that Polynesian's 'drifted' from South America to Polynesia accidentally by trade winds. If you did any real anthropological research you'd know that his theory was horribly incorrect. Polynesian's migrated from South-east Asia, not South America, and DEFINITELY not by accident. The Polynesians used viable traditional ocean navigation techniques by reading the stars and ocean currents. They weren't some lost at sea voyagers that happened upon the Polynesian islands by accident, like Heyerdahl would like you to believe. But his journey across the ocean in a wooden raft is definitely impressive, he just happened to be very, very wrong.
It is such an amazing movie!!! I think everyone must see this film! A lot better than all those hollywood blockbusters in my opinion.
looks like a awesome story....will check it out...♥
This is some kind of 'artistic free' remake of the documentary from 1947: the Real Kon-tika-movie with Thor Heyerdahl: He won an Oscar for his Documentary at that time! Enjoy!
It was amazing!...♥
I'd love to see this movie. But the book is one of my all-time favorites and I've read it several times. It's a shame that Heyerdahl's theory proved to be wrong.

Wonderful wonderful movie. Captured all the sense of wonder and fear I felt when I read their story all those years ago. You can really feel in your gut how frikken' scary the ocean can be up close. WATCH IT.
This was probably the most adventure packed, on the edge of your seat suspenseful and truly amazing documentary I've ever seen! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
While the story of Thor Heyerdahl is an interesting one Iʻd much rather watch a movie about the greatest navigators and explores of all time who purposely sailed to Peru to bring the sweet potato into the Pacific. The story of the Hokuleʻa, Mau Piailug, Eddie Aikau, and how the Polynesian Voyaging Society revitalized wayfinding across the Pacific is so much more compelling than a guy who thought that Polynesians werenʻt smart enough to settle the islands of Oceania except by mistake (drift).
Might be 7 years too late lol... but I was looking for this comment. So many uneducated people in the comments that don't know the historical context of the movie and that Heyerdahl's theory was horribly incorrect.
itʻs well established fact that the islands of the Pacific were settled from West to East. And the Primary interaction between peoples of the Pacific and peoples of the Americas came from the west, from Polynesia. The Incan civilization was amazing but they couldnʻt hold a candle to the navigational skills of the Polynesians.
It's an amazing true story, even Hollywood's embellishments won't do the book any justice. Imagine sailing thousands of miles across the ocean on a tiny raft, and live to tell about it.
Brilliant film. Didn't realize that they filmed each scene twice - in Norwegian and then in English.
they didn't?
Heeii Du They did.
+Heeii Du Except for the action scenes and scenes with CGI, they filmed everything else twice.
ptmr i'm peruvian y no sabia nada de esta pelicula ^^ pero se que el INCA TUPAC YUPANQUI hijo de PACHACUTEC viajo con hombres hasta esas tierra
it's a relief I found this in english... translations in general are awful... specially spanish translations... it's better to hear the voice of the actor then you can sense the feeling of every moment and dialog... I'm ecuadorian and my native tongue is spanish but i really prefer to watch the movies with the original language... either english, spanish, french, korean, german or whatever...
The original language of this movie is actually norwegian with most of the actors being norwegian and the film is from norway it was filmed in norwegian.
+Tobias11ize yeah I meant Norwegian
haha, yea!
That means alot! :)
Hail mighty Norway!
Norwegian filmography is becoming the best in the world
Thor Heyerdahl was the reason why I became an archaeologist, so I really enjoyed this movie and I'm proud to be part of this niche audience!
Great movie,my respect to the legendary explorers and adventurers like Thor Heyerdahl
RIP the crew of Kon-Tiki

Bengt Danielsson (July 6, 1921 - July 4, 1997), aged 75
You will always be remembered as legends.
My name is Forrest, Forrest Gump and this is my shrimp boat.
The crew were not afraid of the Whale Shark...but its size and what damage it could do to the raft.
The real Kon-Tiki raft is on display at the Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo.
And another thing...Mr. Heyerdahl`s english pronouncement was really that bad in real life ;)
well, there are a thousand super hero movies, but do we see them as a ripoffs? nope, alo, this is way different than life of pi, you should see this great movie before judging it.
also, its based on a true story, which none of those movies were.
Maybe because you sat on your fucking phone throughout the whole movie?
- George Clooney
haha, well I have to admit, im quite dissapointed that this film didn't win an oscar
About 1/3 of the film is in english, and the rest is in Norwegian, BUT, in 1 month an english version will be released in America and in Canada. The english version is not dubbed, they have filmed all the scenes twice, once in Norwegian and once in English, all the scenes that already were filmed in english didn't have to be filmed again though.
Thor Heyerdahl was the man
It has not been released in every country yet. Depends on where he is living
Looking forward to this. Thor Heyerdahl is truly an inspiration
The scene in the trailer when he's explaining his plan to the board is different from the movie. And no I'm not talking about the English to Norwegian, I'm talking English to English. Its very different actually
It's alright. Danes are so much cooler though!
No
..Great Expedition , Great Men ..
The movie certainly brings to Light the Heroic Voyage of the Raf, t but I was a tad disappointed with the Show. ..Read the book Numerous Times though..
The oscar's hasn't been yet. It was the Golden Globe awards that it didn't win at, so, it still has a chance to win.
Aww.. :/ But a Swedish person admits that a Norwegian film is good, it has to count for something?
Damn what a great inspirational movie. Regards from india.
quoting is the act of trying to sound wise when you have nothing original to say -- Cras mussen
it's a trailer. watch it. the entire movie is just great in my opinion. and not unrealistic.
Nice movie , watch it on pps , because this language movies normally won't show in malaysia
Sometimes my country makes me proud of being able to make such good film's as This and Troll hunter.. norway
Whale sharks are not dangerous, but those great whites are
pride should be reserved for something you achieve not something you are born with
i tought the movie was about that whale, but it was barely there
nope :( It was nominated, but some dutch film won
Both Norwegian and English. The original version with English subtitles is fine. Strongly recommended movie, absolutely loved it.
Trust nature it will not guide you wrong, but one must understand nature and respect it.Beautiful movie.🌞
So you took a good book and turned it into a crappy movie?
Good job.
August 24? It's already come out in 2012?
Great trailer!
Take a look at our adventure TV-Series. 12 000km on ATV/Quads
yea, I realized that after I wrote the comment, would be a dream if it would win!
It is a Norwegian film
When is the movie coming out?
ha-ha. it was boring..
-Barack Obama
According to you, I find this movie better then the life of pi
girls go gongwipdu
boys go kon-tiki
THOSE REAL BLONDE NORWEGIAN MEN 😍
This looks like a better movie than the overrated Abore.
Ha that big shark isnt dangerous its eating planktons!!
The book of mormon talks about this and its true.....
Looks alot better than life of pie (Which was shit).
A problem all scientist faced.
In 1971 I gave a lecture in class about the Kon-tiki...
this was a great film. I wonder if he found out anything else about the history of Oceania that was never published.
Hahahahahahahhahahahhahahaha
Thanks for the correction, that's the problem with us Swedes, we thought there were more of us. Thor was amazing! Can't wait to see the film. I wish they would focus a film on Fatu-Hiva, I enjoyed the trials and tribulations during that period of time, even the intro of the book per time, the world, slow and large, pace of life, extremes, and even in paradise humans will be humans, thanks for the reply.
Recommend other movies similar to this one , please.Thank you!
Kon-tiki is not even near as good as Life of Pi
There was nev r a riscovery of america
Det är skit dåligt att den går bara i Göteborg jag själv bor i Stockholm
xD saw this movie in 1080p HD and was really interesting but this adventure was really scary later
I just loved this film; it brings a breeze of fresh air to all those Hollywood blockbusters...
is the move on Eng. ? Or is it all on Nor.?
I swore I saw Ryan Gosling. But I was wrong :(
This movie is like the game raft
i think i saw...sharks on their boat? ok..
Jaws meets life of pi meets Around the world in 80 days
There were other Nationalities on the boat. I enjoyed the book "Fatu Hiva" more then "Kon Tiki".
Am i the only one who love the soundtrack? (Im that dubstep dude, but this soundtrack is beautiful)
Muslims too?
Open Water
I was wondering exactly the same. Have you seen the movie? They pretty much showed everything indeed.
