I really enjoyed this. It's great to have some insight into the process of how you make a video. Of course, these are all great tricks, but listening to you talk about why many of them weren't used in the final video shows that there's a lot more to a good juggling video than just the tricks.
You really hold yourself to a very high standard. I can't think of many jugglers who would avoid using a 7 club trick, not because they couldn't do it, but because the rhythm wasn't right, and it didn't look good enough.

Thanks Jeff! Glad you liked the video, it's fun to have a place to put the tricks that were cool but didn't quite make it to the real video.

Thanks Bradley, Cool to hear you enjoy the commentary. I find it interesting to hear other jugglers talk about how they go about fixing their tricks so I hoped this would be interesting for you guys : )

It was very interesting to hear, I remember being so excited to watch Throw Joy with director's commentary. Thanks for taking the time to share your insights, it really does add a lot of value. Enjoyed seeing all of the research for these variations. Alternate ending was a cool concept.

Love the tricks, love the commentary so much. Really great to hear how jugglers think about their own tricks, especially in relation to each other. I completely understand the feeling of a pattern needing other similar patterns in the video to make sense.
The boxes and club-on-club rolls were some favourites.
    Thanks for making this!

hi Wes, big fan. Heptad is both the reason I took up juggling and the soundtrack to my life, my brother and I work at a car wash and pretty much constantly juggle towels or our homemade balls when we have free time. my brother even got a set of clubs, I don't know how you guys do it.
anyway, I really enjoyed this video as a juggler, it was like nerdy juggling crack. if you are looking for someone to donate old props to, we really want to take our game to the next level. hoping to start sending you video responses of us juggling at the car wash soon.
    sincerely,
    nerdy Texas jugglers

Tried the PX4 at the IJC, did not like them for myself. First will say in the hands of a technical juggler any club can do your bidding. My friend Scott Seltzer uses one piece large dubes. Another example: Cut up the clubs or add magnets and still very usable like by Jay Gilligan .
    My comments:
The wrap on the PX3 has a little give to it, which softens the catch. The fake wrap on the PX4, not needed. Didn't feel the little bit of cushion which the wrap gives you compared to no wrap. I overall don't mind the bendability of the px3 handle.
The PX4 I tried on every flip, as the dowel is now rigid the bulb seems to move on the catch. So instead of just the handle in the px4 having some flexibility the bulb seems to have the flexibility and it feels weird on the catch.
I will stick with the PX3 for now or perhaps splurge and purchase Henrys which is about double the cost, also Henrys has a lifetime guarantee, so if it breaks they fix it. (I've broken many a club, usually the knobs first)
Conclusion: So the club is much more rigid but the bulb feels weird on the catch.
Still want to know what Play uses for the shiny paint on the fancy clubs, as the stuff on mine has worn off.
The multiple colours on the PX4 , amazing to be able to choose whatever colour you like :-) too confusing, what do I choose ?
Thanks Wes for the video, always enjoyable and amazing.

Wait, as far as I know, matte is just an appearance. What is the actual material of the surface? Also, is the wrap simply stylistic? Meaning, the mold is just made with a spiral design, but there's not an actual wrapping of material (e.g. plastic)?
Btw, as always, great tricks and video. :-)

    • @wespeden
      @wespeden  7 років тому +3

Hey Jamie, when I say matte Imean that it's not a shiny and slick finish like new clubs usually are but feels a bit more like it was sanded with a very fine sand paper so it doesn't get slick when you're hands are sweaty. The wrap is in the mold so there is not wrapping of material, the handle is all one piece. I know some jugglers find the wrapped feeling of the handle useful, for me it doesn't affect anything either way. Let me know if you have any other questions!

PX4 is the top for began with clubs? Or is better PX3?

After having this clubs now for several years, Wes, have you had any parts break, fail, need repair or replacement? I am considering these clubs among a few choices, and I hear a few people talk about things coming apart or breaking. What has been your experience?

Anyone who has juggled both Delphins and PX4s, how would you compare the two types of clubs?

    • @wespeden
      @wespeden  7 років тому

Hey Daniel! I have used Delphins for a long time so I can give you the breakdown.
      - HANDLES - The PX4 handles are a little thinner and more of a matte texture. In my opinion, this makes them easier to collect and multiplex.
      - KNOBS - The PX4 knobs are a little harder and more smooth, the Delphin knob is a little softer and more grippy.
      - COLORS - The PX4 comes in many more colors than Delphins. The handles and knobs of PX4's can be in any colors that the body can be, with Delphins the handles are only white and there are limited knobs color options.
      - SIZE AND FLIP - The PX4 Quantum and Delphins have basically the same handle to body length ratio so the flip and speed is very similar.
      - STRENGTH - The core of a Delphin is made of wood which is very rigid and responds quickly but does break after time and heavy use. The PX4 core is fiberglass which also reacts very quickly but is much stronger than wood. I have juggled the PX4's for many hours (dropping profusely) on concrete and never had one break.
I think booth are very good clubs, PX4's are my favorite at the moment but I recommend trying both if it's possible!
      Hope that's helpful,
      /Wes

Thanks man! Also are you familiar with henrys pirouette? I've juggled them for years now and I really like them, how ever I really want to try some new clubs, do you think quantum would be a good option from me since I'm used to juggle henrys piroutte?

The Quantum is definitely a different shape so the Sirius model might feel more familiar
