Rafael Marquez was a great fighter. Just as great as his brother Juan Manuel, too bad he wasn't the same after fighting Israel Vazquez three times (neither was Vazquez). If not for those three very tough and exciting fights he would have done more but at the same time boxing wouldn't of been the same without that great trilogy with Vazquez. Great to see him in top form again in this fight. Thanks for posting it.
Thats my brother Pete. I was very proud that he was able to get an IBF title fight. This is a very difficult achievement in life. I wish he would have won, but I think if I was there in his corner that night that he would have won. The one item missing was support and he did not fight his style that he always fought.
This is the first video i found of Petes Title shot - Im very proud of Pete to be able to have the shot at Marquez - I trained with Pete and Jack back in the day at Magnum Boxing (Both Tarpon and Holiday Gyms) Before going into the Navy. He Definitley tried to fight Marquez's fight and not his own - He would of made it to the distance/Won the Title. Nonetheless - I always look back on the days in the gym training with Pete and Jack and Honored to have learned from them.
@jfrissina you brother is very brave, i think his advantage or one of his advantages is to get so much bigger from the weigh in. he looks huge compared to marquez.
