How I Separate the Stitches on My Boots

In this video I show how to build the tool that I use to separate the stitches on my boot welting. There is a rich history in separating stitches. Because a machine could not match the separator to the stitch length and curve of the boot it was a good indicator of quality hand made boots; plus it just looks really finished

is it very hard to find, any of the old, heavy duty stitchers, and sewing machines, are they very expensive?
