As a parent I 100% understand her need to see her grandson become a man before she dies! He should have never rested in front of the tv, that was his mistake. Most parents & grandparents cannot grasp the fact that a grown person (that you are 100% supporting) would have the time to sit & do nothing when they should be furthering their education or saving up to buy their own car & house! What a gift it is to be that young & have your bills paid while being chauffeured everywhere u need to go. Watching that gift be completely wasted is shocking to someone that likely never had time to sit in front of the tv w friends online (virtually or otherwise) to play video games half the day. It’s inconceivable, which is precisely why she felt the need to take legal action. Don’t waste opportunities to get a firm footing in life, especially when the person supporting your every need is also someone who loves & cares for your well being. Trust me, few people in life will ever love u as much as your parents & grandparents. Don’t squander that with the “she doesn’t understand me” take or you’ll be tellin your lawn mowing story to the sidewalk. Praying for all involved. He actually sounds like a good kid, but at 20, he should be sounding like a good man.

He said he was literally talking to his sister and so what we’re not supposed to believe him is that why he use the word literally or does he even know what that word means he needs to go into the military and learn real consequences for your actions that’s what needs to happen Send him to the Marines and maybe he will learn something but I mean he can’t even speak proper English. It’s truly disgusting. Obviously he dropped out of school in fifth grade. It breaks my heart it truly does, but this is some thing that happens every single day and I live in Atlanta and I’ve worked with a lot of people from Atlanta that are anywhere from 19 to 25 years old and these people cannot even figure out what $.20 from a dollar is it makes no sense.

The great thing is the judge probably could have ended this case in 5 or 10 minutes. He's 20, he's never paid rent, she doesn't want him there. I don't think there's any legal argument the guy could possibly make.

      No.
I mean there is something to that. I'm lucky to have grown up in a stable two parent middle class home with plenty of extended family around. Obviously he doesn't have that, and it shows. He is who he is because he was parented by a single woman who would readily admit that she was too old for the job when it was forced upon her. She did what she could, and it wasn't enough. I loved my grandmother, but there's no way she would have been able to raise me from age 6 either.
And there's a fairly well known thing where video games become this artificial replacement way to find meaning and purpose and work on something and make progress and accomplish things when people for whatever reason find it too difficult to do those things in real life.
But Grandma is out of options. He won't be able to grown and mature in the way that he needs to if he stays in her house. There's no future for him there. It's a dead end.
The only alternative would be "You can stay as long as you meet certain conditions", which
      1. That has almost certainly already happened. That's why they're in court in the first place. She could have done this when he turned 18, but she's given him a chance to turn things around. He hasn't.
      2. You can't have a situation where she takes him to court, he gets scared and meets the conditions for a while, then he quits his job and she has to start the process over again. This court process isn't made to be started and then stopped and then restarted again over and over, and even if it was Grandma probably doesn't have the energy for it.

I lived with my aunt and uncle after losing my parents at ~9 y/o or so and while I didn't get along with them all the time, family is family and they still earn my respect. Awesome that you got it 😁.
Our brains all learn thru the evidences of our experiences ( intellectually knowing things isn't enough ).
So consequences are how our brain/body/mind learns what is appropriate behaviour for survival.
Being an adult means learning that adults have LESS "freedom" to do & say whatever you feel like.
( Through the consequences of not having housing, a job, etc )
The responsibilities of what you have to do to survive,
get in the way of being like that child with the "freedom" of having others be responsible for you,
& so not having to worry about the hard survival issues all on your own.
I really do also think that , as intellectually capable humans, we've forgotten that knowing how to behave, or maturing attitudes, come from physical experiences & consequences of life,
(the cascade of chemical interactions that teach one useful behaviour over another )
      not from just being told.
( Like a bird physically teaches all the behaviours needed to survive to its offspring.
It stops feeding it as much, but shows & guides it to the exact actions it needs to get the food for itself, to survive.
So the babychick doesn't have to "reinvent the wheel", it has been guided through the physical actions that create the neuronal pathways of how to be an adult bird)
We have become so "just telling them from a child should do it" without taking biology of behaviour & growing up into account.
      Maybe if we did both.
Teach & physically explicitly guide into a working system.
( Not just tell kids to "get a job" but guide them into the process, from the start to finish.
But do it earlier than when they are meant to already be adult.
Earlier so they learn & relearn all the steps, to build those neuronal pathways before they are needed, rather than wait till they need it, then lob it at them.
      😁☮️🌏

I lived with my grandmother for a few months and I paid her rent, ran errands for her, took her to doctor appointments, kept my room clean and grandma had her pension/social security, owned her home, had a car and was physically able to get around a little bit, but as an adult I was and still is responsible for myself, not grandmother or mother or any adult in my family.

He seems like an articulate young man and is wasting his life unfortunately. Reality is biting him, which is why his voice is trembling.

The look on the judges face when she was explaining her grandson was “ I’m not really sure she went to school anymore “

That young man doesn't realize it yet, but his very loving grandma just helped him to grow up and learn some appreciation and responsibility. She is an awesome grandmother!! ❤

The fact that his grandparents had him there’s no stability which gives anxiety. He needs to be in a work program with houses. Since he doesn’t help her he’s out with the option of earning that full undeniable support. We fall down yet we must rise!

This world needs more parents like her. He shouldn't be grandma's issue.

She clearly loves him, but there's a limit as to what she will put up with. I know there comes a point that we either don't see parents or grandparents as much as we should, but us oldies always regret that. Disrespecting is an absolute no no though. Anyone other than family would have you out in two shakes of a lambs what not.

It's never as bad as it seems if your not paying any damn bills!!! He's taking advantage of his kind granny!!! I'm 41 and my parents are 75 and 76 and my granny is 98, they could ask me to cut grass on Mars and I would die trying. So my people do not have their granny still around!!
