Thank God for UA-cam. I was glad to see you used the stock charger. It will make it so much easier for me. I guess if it would have started a fire the girls would have told you. Thanks.
This is a great video. I am having trouble finding the battery pack or one like it that you used. I don't think Luna still has that one. Any idea where I can find one that will work? The Bike I have for my son is the MX650 and want to do what you did to it as well.
I just bought this one and will report how it went. www.ebay.com/itm/36V20Ah-Lithium-Li-ion-Battery-Pack-for-720W-EBike-Scooter-with-5A-Charger-BMS/273457871823?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
Hi TheMrwilsn, Luna cycle does not have the battery in stock until several months or more. I found a 36v 12AH lithium battery, but they have two different connections compare to yours. First connection is the (T Style discharge port connector) and the second is DC charge port connector, which charge up the battery, The T-Style connect is comparable to your TX90. The DC charge connection is similar to your TX60 (I assume your TX60 was your charging cable for the battery), but instead you use that TX60 for your voltmeter instead. And you use the existing XLR connector to charge up your battery. Do you know how I would install the voltmeter since my DC charge cable connection will be used to charge the battery instead or would I still be using the XLR port to charge up the battery since I built the 3 prong connection like yours. If that is the case, would I need to somehow convert the DC charge cable into something similar to your TX60. Thanks nick
hey man, I watch this video like 3x and I am happy to see what you're doing but my question when you replace this with lithium Ion how long does it take you or how many miles do you get in 1 charge?
Ultimately that depends on the capacity of the battery you put in and the rate of charger from the charger you use. The battery I used was 12Ah and I was using the stock 1A charger so it would take 12 hours to charge. I was able to get 23 miles range at wide open throttle. Depending on how you ride and weight of the rider you could get significantly more than that....possibly double that for a kid under 100 lbs not going full speed the whole time.
@@TheMrwilsn I wouldn't recommend lithium ion batteries in these vehicles because the batteries can catch fire even when the power is switched off. We recently had a report on the local news the other day about a scooter catching fire in the owner's home because the battery overheated and ignited even though the scooter's power supply was turned off. Also according to the owners manual(I have a razor pocket mod scooter myself) any modifications made to the vehicle that are not authorized by the manufacturer can actually void the owner's legal authority to operate the vehicle under FCC regulations.
+Kyle Pree Not counting tools it's just the DROK Digitial Voltmeter, XT-90S connectors, and XT-60 connectors all from Amazon and the battery pack from Luna Cycle. I have added a link in the video description to a detailed write up I did on the Electric Motorcycle Forum.
Yes, but he said it has a built in BMS, meaning it does all the balancing and regulating via the charge controller inside the battery. So long as this is a 36v pack, the stock charger should be just fine.
The only reason you can not use the stock charger with these swaps is if you go the cheap route and buy JUST the lithium cells and construct it yourself, which is fine, but that also means you need a separate BMS/Charge Controller, but he appears to have a very nice battery with a built in BMS. :)
Why are you replacing with the same voltage? Waste of money, you should have bought a 48v battery and controller... it would have gone faster and only cost you like $40 more
Best 36v swap vid yet !
really nice gift , amazing range
Awesome video! Detailed and intuitive. I've got the same plan for my MX500 for my kids

Great video and upgrade!
Pricy though still in 2019
Do you have a video how you made that wiring adapter with the fuse?
Where you able to figure out how to do this?
@@melissacolantuoni3278 Yes, purchased some XT60 connectors off Amazon with the bare wires and made the connections.
Nice Videos and good information👌👍👍💐
You can also use metal ties if you don’t trust zip ties.
Great video thanks for sharing
Una pregunta: cuanto tiempo hay que cargar esas baterías o no son recargables
What fuse did you attach to the voltage meter?
cool! hey what app is that youre using?

Will this work with an MX125 with an added variable speed controller?
Has anyone found place to get this battery? I contacted Luna and they won't even build a custom one like this anymore.

what is the dimensions of the battery bay
I’m trying to do this now but I suck with electricity, I bought one for my son and the current power is ridiculously slow !!!

can we get a full parts list with part numbers and where u got everything

What is the battery ? Where did you bought it from
Are you using the stock speed Controller
Smart kid
Can someone drop a link for the battery
Sweet.
You cannot use the stock charger.....you must use a lithiumion charger.
Yes all the lithium swap video's say do not use the stock charger

do u have a low voltage cut off
The BMS in the battery pack has a low voltage cutoff to prevent cell damage
I did this with my neighbor
all of that and you only got up to 17mps
The battery dose not improve performance It just gives a farther range
you had me at lithium ion,
then came 300$!!!!!
hee hee
Did a similar upgrade to an MX650 with parts available today. Should work for the MX500 as well. Full video at ua-cam.com/video/FaRNneB6dIg/v-deo.html
How much is electric motor 24 volt for 650 kids dirt bike
You're doing it wrong. 2x 6s 10p.... Or 2x 7s 10p

Have you done it by chance? I'm looking to get a razor mx500 frame whipped up into shape but I'm having trouble finding exactly what to use.
@@TreasureOutdoors yes, id recommend BTR power. Just search them up on Google. Get one that comes with a matching charger (most do at BTR)
