Parents can still spank their children at home in the state of Virginia where I live and other states that banned public school corporal punishment. In the United States in most of the states a parent can still spank in the home as long there isn't any bruise or injury marks.
wildejamey I had a great great grandfather that used a bobwire and beated his son 75 slashes years ago. Not only he was overbearingly strict but also very cruel. In some things I agree that a spanking should be the last resort, however when someone takes it to the abusive, cruel, harsh way it can be wrong in the connection with corporal punishment- that is why people resent there strict parents or teachers when they go overboard with paddling, or punishing them physically. In some cases it can cause children to turn against the the parents or teachers who are doing it in the extremity.
