It's funny that just as they have a beef up ebike that kills Super73, California fought back and now only 750 Watts and 20 mph are legal. They need to figure out what to do with the new law first before releasing the Class 2 variant. Either they change the motor to strictly 750W or miss California (and other states following suit, surely) or make the bold move to make it a first true ebike-motorcycle hybrid.
@@MikeMu Thank you, how concerned would you be that when the new release comes out that they will limit all bikes to the California standards? It appears they have access to update your bike at will.
@@VinceNadolski Great question! The regulations everybody is up in arms about isn't going to go live till 2026. People are freaking about it right now, and there's that famous Super73 lawsuit which I know Segway is watching very, very closely. As such, the Xyber is sold as unclassified and not road legal and limited to 35 MPH to limit their liability. They will sell one that is road legal later this year (planned as of Jan 2025) which could mean a number of things. One of which *could* be putting a small motor on it that does not exceed 750W. (I can't imagine this being a top seller in that case unless the price is dropped substantially). Or reclassify as a moped (30 MPH limit) or e-Moto. And then you sign a legal waiver to unlock higher speeds... A big reason why I didn't already pre-order this is that I finally got my Ristretto 512, with performance numbers that already exceed the Xyber (with 72V option coming = crazy high performance). If you pre-order now, get your bike, it is likely that you can keep it at 35 MPH with zero issue later. It still remains unclassified / not road legal, so nothing changes about that. The updates are going to be optional, and you'd have to go through a (sometimes) buggy process to update the firmware on the Xyber anyway. The update can't really be forced on your if you don't reconnect the app to your Xyber, but you'd miss out on certain features and updates if you do this.
They will release a new model that will be 'legal.' Which means it will be a Class II, 20 MPH max, and 750W max power. It'd be mostly for the looks/style only. And/or they will release an e-moto version where you need a M1 + insurance to ride. You'd ride on the street like any other motorcycle that's legal and have a license plate, etc.
Yes. Wide range though. 5’4 through 6’ something shouldn’t be an issue. I used phone to get a rough measurement, it’s around 31” inches for the seat. Once you get on it, the lowers a bit due to shocks.
poor segway is going to take a loss with this one hha. cool bike but it just won't be able to sell as a 750 watt locked version for $4000. that sales rep did not want to be talking to you haha.
A good looking platform; however, they’ve copied a few mistakes. Battery, brakes, gear derailleur, frame composition, screen size & placement. Good design & specs, but would be interested in seeing long term & real use cases.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking that bicycle parts are gonna cut it on electric bikes. Motorcycle parts a better, cheaper & more plentiful. Segway has some incredible offerings, with useful innovations. My hope is that they’re thinking long term & using unquestionable/premium parts.
@@plutobars7700 the weight is much lower than a motorcycle and this is made for the streets not the dirt. I'd appreciate beefier spokes anyways though, but I can see why they didn't bother.
They already have a dirt bike line with a prototype shown at the show. But as MrJustek said, its not necessary this type of eBike. Its more about looks than being an actual e-moto.

O sea que esto es a causa de la guerra económica con china?
@ I wish I could move out of here... Just come visit from time to time.
Gracias por este video. ha sido perfecto.
Las tomas me han permitido visualizar detalladamente cada parte de está bicicleta
That and the ristretto look amazing 😮
I paid/pre-ordered 1.5 years ago for the Ristretto to finally ship. But it really is amazing!
3k for a 48v system? Maybe Segway and super 73 should research the price on 60v bikes these days.
I hope we can order the shorter seat and side fender covers.
Side fender covers are included.
Hey there ! I was gonna ask if they come along with the side fenders to conceal the batteries on both sides?
Yes. They didn’t bother to put them back on here for demo purposes of battery removal.
“My opinion without riding it…” are the best opinions.
Update. I rode it right after, and I’m right. I did the math on the pistons and weight. It adds up.
Do you know if the battery is removeable for people that have to charge separately from where they store the bike
Yes, the batteries are removable. It looks a bit cumbersome but that’s because they are huge and strapped in, and locked.

It sucks if you live in California I'm also in California I want that Segway Xyber it looks futuristic. What can we do if we're in "California?

Yes, it is terrible timing for sure. I hope they can take this and produce a real e-motorcycle from all this for just a little bit more.

The spokes and rim are weak spots, don't understand why the rims and spokes can't be beefed up or use dirt bike or motorcycle rims.

Could have released this Xyber this time last year when Onyx was imploding. GGs Segway.
