Mark Gonzales Day in the Life by Fourstar. Happy birthday Mr Gonzales. Here's how he spent just one of those days in the forty years that he's been on this Earth.
Gonz is one of the coolest cats in skating that you'll ever meet. Back in 87 he was here for a show and after his run he came up and sat in the stands right next to me. He was absolutely humble and cool and talked to me for like 45 minutes. He then drew a nice little mural on my board ( a Vision Gonz deck, no doubt ) and my stupid ass didn't hold on to it. He was one of the coolest skate stars that I have ever met. Tony Alva a close second, but this is Gonz's page LOL.
He is a blessing to skateboarding. He embodies everything that it represents, art, passion, doing it for the love & having fun. Mark has truly never forgotten why he started skating, he's like a 16 yr old in a 40 yr olds body.
man you wouldnt think it.. 41 years old and hes stil cracking tricks like he did when he was 30. this man is amazing.. he deserves some sort of award. gonzo ftwwwww
mark is a legend. i think he's still one of the most influential skateboarders ever, and he's in the top 3 of favorite skateboarders of almost every pro today. i don't know whether he's still skateboarding a lot these days, but he used to be one of the best skaters ever back in the eighties and nineties
For some reason, Gonz saying “This is Mike Kepler” pops into my head like, once per week. I watched this video a lot as a teen. He’s effortlessly goofy with such a positive energy. If I had to pick a favorite skater, he might be it
the roof of new design high school, lower east side manhattan. billy rohan hosts a few contests there and its really hectic but fun. theres also i good mini ramp and a bunch of boxes and other stuff
I'm sure Tony Hawk and Shawn White know who Mark Gonzales is. However, both said skaters are from an entirely separate 'genre' of skateboarding. In short, Mark Gonzales was one of the "pioneers" of skateboarding, having an influential effect on street skating, (fixed, man made and rarely natural architecture utilized for skateboarding), self expression through skateboarding as well as the symbiosis of various arts and skating, and the standards skaters hold today in terms of risk taking, (for ex
seems difficult to me lol...in any case I have gained appreciation for Mark Gonzales and I am kinda bummed to have to see him on only youtube now instead of following him when he performed live
@Quesly1 I'm writing an essay about him, he's one of my favorite skaters but can you give me an example of how he is one of the best skateboarders of all time?
@nightshite i have a buddy that acts just like mark. he's one of kind. So in his thoughts, and always unpredictable. the way mark acts reminds me alot of him. theres just that "somthing" about them.
@NYCxskateXinfo It's somewhere in the L.E.S but i don't remember where. Skate around and look up! i hear its only open to the public for events and stuff though.
-ample; Mark Gonzales was the first of many to ollie [jump down] Wallenberg which is a series of massive steps seperated by feet upon feet that is part of a schoolyard in California). Tony Hawk and Shawn White, though, are famous for simply raising the standard of skateboarding on large half pipes. Tony Hawk is often criticized for being a "sell out", but really a few of us can see past our jealousy and admit that there's nothing wrong with doing a few ads for Gillette Razors or video games in
