In the past, Chinese families used to live together, and it was very common to see three generations loving together. Today, many new immigrants from China like to live together and the grandparents are responsible for looking after the grandchildren. In my community, we have neighbours who live with her adult children, grandchildren and their great grandchildren. By observation, these muti- generation families get to take care of one another, which is quite a blessing for them.
I like the video very much. About 2 years ago, I hardly understood the conversation when I listened to it for the first time, but now I can understand most of it. Thanks so much.
Lovely conversation today. I can relate because I'm in that old age reasonable healthy group. We have a word that it doesn't exist in English "sobremesa", (sitting on after a meal), when we have lunch with friends, or family. But I agree with you that exercise it's paramount. Thanks a lot!
I'm particularly interested in this topic and I must confess that I'm a bit of a fitness fanatic; on average I walk 30 km per week. Unfortunately I have to disagree with some of the information given regarding the Mediterranean diet, communal meals and multigenerational households. Here in Italy for instance although the Mediterranean diet is recognized as a healthy and sustainable dietary model, it's fully followed by an extremely small percentage of Italians. According to a recent survey only 5% of adults fully adhere to this diet, while the majority adhere to a moderate level. A busy lifestyle only allows for communal meals on Sundays or special occasions while living together in multigenerational households is most definitely a thing of the past.
Third comment or 3rd comment, we will become an elderly person invariably. The difference is how we can care or mind, body and spirit. Moreover, I think what counts is when you look back and see if you are proud about your achievements and how you have made a difference to help other people and contribute to a better an more human world. In a nutshell, have you left a legacy or something worthwhile?
Japan faces a serious social issue with elderly people living in loneliness. Many elderly individuals live alone and are isolated. In some cases, they die of hunger and remain unnoticed until the smell of their body is discovered months later. Additionally, they often get scammed because they have no reliable people around them😢

What do 2:24 map and 2:30 later life mean?
'map' here basically means 'to follow and study' them. And 'later life' refers to when you're older, but she doesn't specify when exactly.
