I'm gonna miss you, Balance & Composure. After Brand New, yours was the only music that I could truly connect with. But I respect your decisions and thank you for doing what you've done for us fans. No one could have or can take your place. I wish you the best of luck with your new life but I welcome you eagerly, with open arms if you ever decide to come back.
Jon Simmons said he never wanted to stop. The other members of the band just have family they want to be with rather than continuing to make music. Its sad to see them go but we all have our vices. Balance and Composure will always be one of my top favorites.
I'm very interested in what the story behind these lyrics are. Every single song on this record is so solid. Balance is amazing always. And. I can call it that.
From Far Usual to me this song exudes a sort of contempt for their audience. Like the fans hold them back by saying "B&C are losing their touch, they aren't as good as they used to be" and the band basically not caring.. and not in a badass 'we do what we want' way, more in a way of them no longer really caring about this as much as they used to. It seems like Jon is asking for someone to put him out of his misery and take his "throne" so he won't be forced to write contrived emo songs that he really doesn't have any desire to write anymore. ...that's what I get from this.
I asked Jon on an Instagram live feed what he was thinking about when writing this. He said he was in the recording booth with literally nothing on paper. Presumably thinking he was "losing touch" with his writing. The irony.
It makes me laugh how many negative comments I saw on the first couple songs they released from "Light We Made" and now that the album is out, all I see is positive responses. I hate to be that guy, but I knew you all would realize the errors of your first impressions. This album is one of the best of 2016, and hearing it live coupled with songs from the last two albums made for such an impeccable performance. BalCO has always been on some next level shit, and this album further proves that.
