SOH - CAH - TOA is the best way to remember how sine, cosine and tangent works
Thank you....you showed what I never knew .
This is how I remember it to this day.

How was this perfectly posted as soon as I just started my new module of trigonometry on solving side length, angles, and word problems.
im glad youre still teaching!! cant thank you enough you got me through high school & college 😂 im currently doing my grad school here at nyu now. thank you!
You have saved more students then you know man trust me
I literally had a feeling to come UA-cam to get that one video that just unlocks it all for me in Trigonometry. This was it and none other one💀
This man is good
This makes so much sense now
Thanks so much
That's a whole semester right there!!!!
Math doesn't make my brain hurt when I actually know these things, thank you sir, may your next cup of coffee be perfect
Thank you very much!!!
You saved me 10 minutes of searching and 1 hour of understanding! Generally thank you 🤗
Very helpful, Usually students are introduced to the functions as "a relationship" of the sides. Too vague. For me, thinking of the relaitonship in percentages makes it easier for me to understand what's happening.

this helped a lot thanks!
McLogan Thank God for you This is a great breakdown I just had a big break through a big AHHH HAAA moment OMG Thank you and thank you again
Thank you teacher
Thanks Sir 🙏🙏
Im always watching your videos from like 8 years ago I didn’t even know you still make videos you’re such a big help!!!
You Sir are an absolute King.
Superb
Haven’t even learned this yet
I’m in grade 5 rn and I’m impressed
Made more sense than my math teacher
THANK YOU SO MUCH U DON T KNOW HOW MUCH THIS MEANS YOUR A REAL ONE MAN
LIFE SAVER
I'm not even at a point in my life where i need this info. I just like maths
Thank you!
Thx it really helped because I want to learn trigonometry even though im in 3rd grade (grade doesn't matter)

Thank Brian. I am a mechanical engineer and I try not to expect my children to know and love math the way I do. Your video really made her understand the cosine and sine laws. I want her to appreciate your videos more by investing into herself and subscribe to at least the $2/month bracket. Thanks again Brian Williams
thanks man
Excellent.... Teaching 👍
Bro thank you man 🙏 these videos just show you how to get it without explaining what they actually are for
damn you are so good..
Bro idk I’m saving this video for my GCSEs
Me being smart: Yeah I remember
Highschool dropouts: I remember HELL

Nice video sir Brian McLogan!
I can't tell if that's a birthmark or a blackeye. If it was a fight then I hope you won. Thanks for the explaination!
This is great! ❤ Can you also explain how knowing this ratios or comparing the sides of a right triangle is useful?
Because it allows you to use limited information to find the unknown sides of the triangle. You might only know the height (H) you want to reach and the angle of your ladder to the ground (theta). You want to find the length (L) of a ladder you need.
In this case, L = H/sin(theta), allows you to find the length of the ladder.
Thank you I remember I used to use your videos

Ok that is something I never knew. They don’t tell that to u at school.

So useful
He was too good at Trigonometry that he got beat up by the Pythagorean Brotherhood 😂
이 분 왜 한글음성으로 나오죠???
혼란스럽습니다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
What makes understanding Tangent so hard?
TOA starts from theta. Tangent = Opp/Adj
Opposite side of Theta (your rad) is 3.
Adjacent side of Theta is 4
3/4 = Tangent
I'm actually not that confused with sine, cosine, or tangent because I actually learned a little bit about those 3 in high school when I took Algebra 2 so those were easy for me. Especially when I learned the Pythagorean Theorem. If you learn that first, then the 3 things about Trigonometry will be much easier for ya. I know we'll be using sine, cosine, and tangent a lot in Trig a lot, but will we be using them a lot in calculus?! Also, will we be using them a lot in the work force like statistics or something (or just the work force in general)?!
What do you think of this closed form equation?

Relearning, always forgot this topic
He just explained this in 1 minute and I understood it while my teacher did in an hour and I understood nothing

Your a math teacher you shouldn’t be confused.
Why is he bruised?
this is helpful. I still think the biggest flaw of education is the lack of telling students the relevance of what they are learning, and demonstrating real-world examples where they will need the information they are busting their butts to learn. just info-spewing with no connection to the real world.
Where can I find the English version dude is speaking Chinese

Isn't it, like, the most common definition of them?
It's only a limited scope of the definition. These trig ratios are defined for angles greater than 90 degrees, and even greater than 360 degrees, in setups that have nothing to do with triangles.
The namesake of trigonometry is "measure triangles", but the trig ratios' full definitions have a lot more to do with circles than they do with triangles.
@@carultch Yeah I know, but when everybody only starts learning trig it is the way it is usually taught at first.
I just don't get the point of the video and why everybody in the comments is so amazed.
Like how can you possibly learn trig for any amount of time and not understand this thing, for this video to give you some kind of insight?
anybody told you you look a bit like the new cap america ??

Now I'll become a topper❤ . Because I have study from the Lord johny sins 😏
What about when a side is unknown?
You have to know at least one side. If you know one side and one angle, and know that it is a right triangle, then any of these ratios can be used to find the remaining sides.
