    Creating that jig.......that's working smart. How did you do holes for your utilities, just a hole saw for metal?

      Thank you. It did save me a lot of time in the end. Yeah I think if you would put it on a board to cut it that you could just use a regular metal cutting holesaw.

      @@SmartEasyDIYer Hey Paul, do you know what the cost is per square foot? I was looking at another company that sells a similar product called TruLog.

      Thank you! The siding is made by quality edge. You can look up your closest dealer on their website if you want to see a display and get more info etc

    Where did you get the siding from? No one near me (upstate ny) sells steel board and batten.

      It’s called tru cedar board and batten. I would maybe check their website and see if you can figure out if there’s a rep that covers your area. I got it from a local company but it was a new product for them and I actually got more assistance from the rep that covers the whole north west. I’ll contact him to and see if he can get me some info to share with you.

    Did you install this directly over purlins? Did that turn out ok?

      I think it’d be best to check quality edge website for dealer locator. Try to buy it locally.

    Paul...how difficult was it to obtain a building permit? I did not see a video about it

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  5 років тому +1

      Where I live out in the county there are no building permits required. I don’t think it would be that hard though if you talk to your local place where they issue them.

    • @ronthurmond6266
      @ronthurmond6266 5 років тому +1

      Thanks Paul. Thought that might be the case in your location. In my area of Tennessee, the post frame permit is not difficult to obtain. It seems to be a bit more complicated because it will eventually convert a portion to a living area. I have to schedule a time to meet with the code enforcement who has jurisdiction and review the IBC

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  5 років тому

      Gotcha ok. Yeah they like to know up front if it’s going to have living area in it for fire codes etc. I built one in a different state with codes and it wasn’t too big a deal.

      @@SmartEasyDIYer Thanks for the information. NW Tennessee is tornado prone so i might get hit with wind loading on my 20 foot walls whereby I may be required to have engineered foundation. Right now i am intending to use 24" drill with 4' bury depth and post sitting on the precast footing blocks. Then fully encase in concrete.

      Yeah you’re welcome. Yeah I’m thinking that will be a different situation with high winds and being that tall. It’s good to do your homework so you don’t have surprises later. Best of luck with your project! Keep me posted.
