- Smallrig already has a modest lineup of video lights, and now they're apparently beginning a new "Pro" lineup ... I feel like we've heard this story before. And once again we need to find out what that even means, and how this light holds up in the real world.

*Disclosure: Smallrig sent me this light in exchange for my honest review. Additionally, I am a member of Amazon, Camera Canada, Adorama and Pergear affiliate/associate programs, and anything that you purchase by clicking on/through my links could result in me getting a commission. That being said, I greatly appreciate you doing so, as it helps to fund this channel's operations, as well as feed my family.
I guess disassembly is similar to the RC100b. On mine, there was a huge sticker covering the entire backside (where the V-Mount is). It took me a while to see it. Under the sticker were a lot of additional screws.
Nicely reviewed. The battery feature (IMO) is the best thing they have to offer for this particular light, and I wish everyone would follow suit with their offerings. Give us built-in V-Mount and USB-C, since both are nearly ubiquitous now. They still haven't fixed their fan issues, oddly enough, nor are they making an angled display that works better when the light is overhead. Very "not-pro" in my opinion. Thankfully, they've been known to make rapid improvements in their offerings, so I expect the "PRO II" to be worthy of the label.
amazing review. for me and my use cases it would be perfect, but i wish it had more sturdy material for bowens mount. I have a pretty big softbox and I'm a bit concernet to mount it there without an extra support.
I just returned this light in favor of the Neewer FS300c (I know, Neewer scares people). I have the 190 WH v mount battery and the Neewer runs for 1.5 hours (Smallrig was a little over an hour), is brighter, is RGB, and has a better overall ecosystem (again, I know Neewer is sketchy). I do love the RC220 pro + RC60c combo but I'm just hoping my risk doesn't come back to bite me going with Neewer.
Nice guitar picks in the overhead time lapse
Essential tools ;)
"Pro" just means more money. It's like the computer motherboards called "Gaming". Manufacturers realized that gamers are willing to pay waaaay more for things so they started with adjectives like "gaming" or "founder edition", whatever that means. The word "Pro" means it will cost more than it should.
Except this one is “Pro” but costs the same or Less than the last product line 🤔
@@WesPerry Good to know, it's rarely the case.
Pro but not pro built
