ASTRO's growth in my opinion is very similar to SEVENTEEN in a way too! they started with bright/cuter songs and developed their own style, but as the years passed, they did more mature concepts but still maintaining their original color and not to mention the crazy choreos and synchronization both groups have
I agree with you so much. I love both Seventeen and Astro and to me the reason Seventeen are the kings of synchronization is because they are 13 people doing it so it's more impressive than 6 people. But if Astro had 7 other members, they would be as good. Especially when you see that Astro and Seventeen were really close for winning the dance aerobics gold medal at ISAC - and Astro won barely. To me those 2 groups are just phenomenal in every single aspects. Visual, choregraphy, synchronization, good music with concept changes that matured and fit them well.
Awww Cutestro! Dance practices are always a must with Astro. The MVs are beautiful and well done but to truly appreciate the choreo the dance practices are a requirement. Hide and Seek is also the ultimate serotonin booster. Feeling sad? Turn on Hide and Seek and your good. You are one of the few who found Astro through Moon Bin and his sister. Most discover this rabbit hole through Eunwoo and his kdramas. The choreographer actually apologized to them for the choreo for Breathless. It truly does make them Breathless. It seems simple but all that up and down....ouch. Best guide out there is Pastel Kookies. Here is a quick break down from the Breathless dance practice. -MJ: yellow shirt, vocal power house. They had a competition style gauntlet they went through where they were doing dance covers twice a week and show cases before being chosen to be in Astro. They were training for upwards of 8 hours a day once formed for Hide and Seek. All of them are phenomenal dancers. These boys are loveable crackheads. Their bond is very strong. MJ went to Eunwoo's last solo fanmeet on his weekend off from his military duty as a surprise along with the rest of the guys that were available. This is also a very sweet and loveable fandom. Their earlier songs are super bright and cute (Rocky and Sanha were still in high school at debut), and as they get older their sound does change a little, but with Candy Sugar Pop (their most recent song) they do come back around to their bright sound ("refreshing" is their official descriptor). Again (Should've Held On) is technically their fourth title track, and it has an amazing dance practice but no music video, whereas Always You (their seventh title track) has a music video but no dance practice (it's worth checking out the dance cut, but the still cam from the 2018 MNet performance is the closest to a dance practice that exists). Astro mostly sticks to lighter sounds, the exceptions probably being Blue Flame and One. Astro and Seventeen are actually pretty good friends! Looking forward to your Aroha journey. :)

At their debut they definitely had a brighter concept and they have tried different sounds during the past 6 years but in my opinion they never lost their soul which can be defined as "refreshing". I'm so glad to see that ASTRO came up next on your fandom list! They absolutely started with the cute concept, but if I had to categorize the group's theme, it's that it really went through a full coming-of-age cycle. That is, they started as high school boyfriends, then became the college hotties, then graduated to real life and got some sexy bad boy vibes before we get where we are today, which is swaggy cool. The concept progression was something underrated, in that it roughly followed Sanha, the maknae's, age. There's something icky to me about sexy concept early debuts were fans are expected to lust after 17-year olds (of any gender), so I was really proud of ASTRO for having taken their concept along with their age. There being a relatively large gap in ages -- Sanha debuted at 16, MJ (eldest) debuted at 22 -- meant that MJ got to play "younger" a long time, but I think that suited him and their group as a whole. And yeah, dance synchronicity legends, which you'll know more of when you get to Baby, because it's really evident there. Re the cute choreography of H&S, though, they still do that signature move every now and again, and it's adorable.
Btw, about the next 2 songs, in case you didn't know, Confession and Again, Confession doesn't have a dance practice, so a live stage would probably suffice, there's an mcountdown 4k still-cam one,. And for Again, there's only a dance practice, but from the same album there's a fan song they made a self-made mv to, called You&Me :))
my ult group is astro!!! i’m not a big fan of their early cute songs from 2016 but they’re music from 2017 is when they’re music starts fitting my music taste. but i still think that their b-sides are better than their title tracks so i recommends that you listen to their b-sides from their albums all light and all yours (my top 2 favorite astro albums)!

if you like brighter kpop music, you're going to love astro. they have an absolutely outrageous discography and in recent years several of the members have been involved in writing and producing their music, as well. they've had a couple of darker title tracks ("blue flame" and "one", in particular) but even their darker songs still feel like astro songs. you're going to really like "after midnight" when you get to it. and one of the things that i also really love about astro is their group dynamic. they're always having a great time during dance practices and they all seem to really like and support each other. can't wait to watch more of your astro content!
If there is one thing you should know about Astro is that their summer bops never cease. Their music matures and they change it up here and there but they stay true to their bright sound. They are also one of the best synchronized groups in kpop and their choreos and dance practices are not only on point but also fun to watch! Will you be doing a guide as well? Astro had a very bright innocent concept at debut (kinda like NCT Dream) as half the members were still school aged. They do have more 'harder' songs but they still keep their lighter, brighter vibe mostly - which I as a fan appreciate as not all artists need to be hard or dark or sexy. Well I'm super late to the party! I see all the usual suspects in the comments and it warms my heart every time! I would be HONORED to join you on this journey. Subscribed, followed on twitch, and I'll jump in discord tomorrow. I would love albums listens/variety/reality and anything you want! Our boys are also kdrama actors, so if you ever want to delve into kdrama reactions I'm sure a lot of AROHAs would jump into your patreon for that. Everyone is telling you to watch the ASTRO 2022 guide by Pastel Kookies, and I'll mention it as well so you know that it's the best! ASTRO does not have any lore, but I guess you could say a lot of their songs and music videos revolve around their love for AROHA and we're usually the main subject. It's kind of like their title tracks are fan songs, but not actually fan songs if that makes sense. It is actually REALLY refreshing to find a reactor who actually enjoys their earlier stuff. I've seen so many say things along the lines of "It's fun, but I'd never put this on my playlist." Well, they're on MY playlist and Hide & Seek is one of my go-to happy songs! They are known for having very strong synchronization and always have difficult choreo. They have to dumb it down for AROHA for tiktok challenges because we complain about how hard it is. 🤣 My favorite song of all time by them is 'Again' (aka Should've Held On.) This is the title track to their 4th mini album, but it has no music video and only a dance practice. I know others mentioned it, but I'm mentioning it again so it isn't forgotten in the line-up! The reason it doesn't have a m/v and wasn't promoted is because it didn't match the concept they had at the time and their company didn't want to move away from that yet since some of the members were still minors. It has more of a mature sound to it compared to Hide & Seek and Breathless, but it's still very ASTRO - you'll see a lot of people say this because they honestly have their own genre and continue to be our refreshing summer kings almost 7 years later. They've tried a few different concepts, but even the "dark" ones have a fresh ASTRO feel to it. The song that actually attracted me to ASTRO was "When You Call My Name" and is a b-side but has a dance practice. When you get to "Knock" I recommend reacting to it since it's on the same album! It was made after they matured their sound a bit, but it has an early ASTRO feel that makes me so happy and I think you'd REALLY enjoy it. You mentioned that you liked summer tropical sounds, so I'm going to let you know that you're going to absolutely LOVE their b-sides if that's the case. That's usually the first thing reactors notice when doing album listens because it's present in so many of their songs. They're also a very vocal heavy group, so they have a lot of beautiful ballads and medium tempo songs showcasing that. Sorry for the long essay, I can't control myself when it comes to this group, but I look forward to watching you turn into an AROHA!! Side note: I recently started stanning a boy group that debuted this year called Tempest. When I first heard their debut song "Bad News" I just fell in love because their fresh sound and happy vibes reminded me so much of ASTRO's earlier music. They just had a comeback with the title track "Can't Stop Shining" that I love even more than their debut and I think you'd really enjoy them if you would like to react to them. :)

You are currently going through their “season” albums which would end in Winter Dream. There is no MV from this album but please be sure to check out the dance practice for Again(Should Have Held On). It’s one of their most iconic choreography.

I'm glad that you decide to get to know Astro. It will be a journey indeed. I'm sure at some point you will react to a guide. Definitely check out the Pastel Kookies 2022 version. At their debut they definitely had a brighter concept and they have tried different sounds during the past 6 years but in my opinion they never lost their soul which can be defined as "refreshing". They are also a bunch of crackheads, definitely not your usual idols. I will definitely subscribe to see you fall in love with them:)

I'm so glad to see that ASTRO came up next on your fandom list! They absolutely started with the cute concept, but if I had to categorize the group's theme, it's that it really went through a full coming-of-age cycle. That is, they started as high school boyfriends, then became the college hotties, then graduated to real life and got some sexy bad boy vibes before we get where we are today, which is swaggy cool. The concept progression was something underrated, in that it roughly followed Sanha, the maknae's, age. There's something icky to me about sexy concept early debuts were fans are expected to lust after 17-year olds (of any gender), so I was really proud of ASTRO for having taken their concept along with their age. There being a relatively large gap in ages -- Sanha debuted at 16, MJ (eldest) debuted at 22 -- meant that MJ got to play "younger" a long time, but I think that suited him and their group as a whole. And yeah, dance synchronicity legends, which you'll know more of when you get to Baby, because it's really evident there. Re the cute choreography of H&S, though, they still do that signature move every now and again, and it's adorable.

my ult group is astro!!! i’m not a big fan of their early cute songs from 2016 but they’re music from 2017 is when they’re music starts fitting my music taste. but i still think that their b-sides are better than their title tracks so i recommends that you listen to their b-sides from their albums all light and all yours (my top 2 favorite astro albums)!

Thank u 💜 🥺 ahhh Astro's discography is very beautiful, refreshing, incredible, unique... and their choreographies... their synchronization Is crazy! ahh how I would have liked to be with them since their pre-debut but I will always be with them ..Ah I got sentimental haha
if you like brighter kpop music, you're going to love astro. they have an absolutely outrageous discography and in recent years several of the members have been involved in writing and producing their music, as well. they've had a couple of darker title tracks ("blue flame" and "one", in particular) but even their darker songs still feel like astro songs. you're going to really like "after midnight" when you get to it. and one of the things that i also really love about astro is their group dynamic. they're always having a great time during dance practices and they all seem to really like and support each other. can't wait to watch more of your astro content!
If there is one thing you should know about Astro is that their summer bops never cease. Their music matures and they change it up here and there but they stay true to their bright sound. They are also one of the best synchronized groups in kpop and their choreos and dance practices are not only on point but also fun to watch! Will you be doing a guide as well? Astro had a very bright innocent concept at debut (kinda like NCT Dream) as half the members were still school aged. They do have more 'harder' songs but they still keep their lighter, brighter vibe mostly - which I as a fan appreciate as not all artists need to be hard or dark or sexy. They are one of the best dance groups like Infinite, Shinee & Seventeen 👌 Will enjoy following your journey into a group that is deservibg of more recognition.

Yay, Astrooooo! Love that you’re starting with Cutestro days too! 🥰 Their music and style will start to mature with each new album/song, but the ‘refreshing’ ‘light’ poppy tone that they have will still be there esp in their Bsides.
The songs that really got me into Astro was Crazy SexyCool, All Night, Run, and Confession! For their dance practices, they’re one of the most synchronized groups in kpop, and Again, Blue Flame, All Night and Knock are some of my faves from them.

Everyone is telling you to watch the ASTRO 2022 guide by Pastel Kookies, and I'll mention it as well so you know that it's the best!
ASTRO does not have any lore, but I guess you could say a lot of their songs and music videos revolve around their love for AROHA and we're usually the main subject. It's kind of like their title tracks are fan songs, but not actually fan songs if that makes sense.
It is actually REALLY refreshing to find a reactor who actually enjoys their earlier stuff. I've seen so many say things along the lines of "It's fun, but I'd never put this on my playlist." Well, they're on MY playlist and Hide & Seek is one of my go-to happy songs!
They are known for having very strong synchronization and always have difficult choreo. They have to dumb it down for AROHA for tiktok challenges because we complain about how hard it is. 🤣
My favorite song of all time by them is 'Again' (aka Should've Held On.) This is the title track to their 4th mini album, but it has no music video and only a dance practice. I know others mentioned it, but I'm mentioning it again so it isn't forgotten in the line-up! The reason it doesn't have a m/v and wasn't promoted is because it didn't match the concept they had at the time and their company didn't want to move away from that yet since some of the members were still minors. It has more of a mature sound to it compared to Hide & Seek and Breathless, but it's still very ASTRO - you'll see a lot of people say this because they honestly have their own genre and continue to be our refreshing summer kings almost 7 years later. They've tried a few different concepts, but even the "dark" ones have a fresh ASTRO feel to it.
The song that actually attracted me to ASTRO was "When You Call My Name" and is a b-side but has a dance practice. When you get to "Knock" I recommend reacting to it since it's on the same album! It was made after they matured their sound a bit, but it has an early ASTRO feel that makes me so happy and I think you'd REALLY enjoy it.
You mentioned that you liked summer tropical sounds, so I'm going to let you know that you're going to absolutely LOVE their b-sides if that's the case. That's usually the first thing reactors notice when doing album listens because it's present in so many of their songs. They're also a very vocal heavy group, so they have a lot of beautiful ballads and medium tempo songs showcasing that.
Sorry for the long essay, I can't control myself when it comes to this group, but I look forward to watching you turn into an AROHA!!
Side note: I recently started stanning a boy group that debuted this year called Tempest. When I first heard their debut song "Bad News" I just fell in love because their fresh sound and happy vibes reminded me so much of ASTRO's earlier music. They just had a comeback with the title track "Can't Stop Shining" that I love even more than their debut and I think you'd really enjoy them if you would like to react to them. :)
