  • Bill Moyers has followed the stories of two Milwaukee families since 1991. Like thousands of others, they were caught in the powerful undertow of a merciless economy and a changing city, constantly faced with devastating challenges and difficult choices. Bill revisits his reports on these families, and also explores the human price of inequality with journalists Barbara Miner and Barbara Garson.

if your going to have a min.wage u should have a max.wage to balance it all out.of course the people at the top are going to say no to that.or make it so the owner can only make say nomore than 10 times the yearly wage that they pay their lowest person on the wage scale.

They should have a limit o max pay ties to low pay. If I can be forced to lave away part time at starvation wages than the CEO deserves no more than 100 times that pay!

This is why we always have to have additional sources of income that we control. These examples of people working for years and suddenly finding themselves struggling financially due to job loss, underscore the necessity to always seek additional sources of income. Its been said that solely depending on a JOB keeps us, Just Over Broke. The American dream is become a nightmare. Our resources may be limited, but our ability to be resourceful is not. Imagine if this couple, years ago, had set the goal of starting a part-time business. For example, learning about and owning rental property for example. By now they could have a few rental properties paid off, providing housing for the community and receiving rental cash flow every month. After gaining experience and success with their own properties, they could choose to expanded into property management for other property owners, especially those living out of state. Many have turned a hobby or passion into a income producing part-time business, that eventually starting earning more income than their job. This also sets a great example for children on the importance of having a level of self-sufficiency. There is plenty of legitimate free information and help on the internet on how to turn a hobby into an additional source of income. For example, SCORE.org Having a job is fine and for some necessary, but it should not be our only source of income.

When they can’t make the mortgage payment, it makes you wish that the missed payments hurt the bank as much as it hurts them. To the bank, it’s pocket change.
