This totally sorted the problem! The diode on the flowmeter board had burnt out. Bought a new one from Ebay for £43. Very grateful. A little disappointed with Miele that this is such a common problem, but very satisfied to have fixed it. Thank you very very much for all your help.

Just wanted to say thanks for the video! Managed to get our old Miele dishwasher going again by replacing the flow meter.

Ours was doing the same, constantly filling and emptying and the cycle not starting.

This is BRILLIANT ! I was hoping to avoid calling a service tech as I felt it might be fixable with a little direction from someone who knows. Thank you Scott the fix-it guy for making it possible with your easy to follow video. This is exactly what happened with my Miele dishwasher. I followed the steps and got the waterflow impeller moving with a magnet. All working again !

I think the fix it guy is great. I love sorting things myself but sometimes need some insight or inspiration. He makes useful suggestions that make sense and explains things in a very relaxed logical and sensible manner. On this video I wanted to add something though. I found the problem with mine after I ordered the part. It was merely the terminals connection between the monitoring diode on the water wheel and the cables that relay the message.
I used a pin to gently press the terminals out further on the lead plug , so they properly touch the connection pad on the diode properly.
    Then things all worked fine.
    Hope this comes in handy!
    Cheers,
    Steve.
