- On Friday, it looked as though Liverpool had snuck in to beat Chelsea to the punch over the transfer of Moises Caicedo from Brighton but with the Ecuadorian making it clear that he had his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge, the Blues and Todd Boehly spent the entirety of the weekend working out a deal which could see the Seagulls banking £115m when all is said and done.
Liverpool and Jurgen Kopp had felt genuinely bullish over their chances of landing the midfielder on Friday morning but this fast-moving story seems to now be hurtling towards a conclusion which leaves the Reds scrambling for midfield reinforcements as the Blues put Pochettino's Chelsea rebuild into fifth gear.

Loving this new format Dan. Worth looking at the Harrison transfer to Everton too, that was absolutely wild.
Thank you mate, I'll have a look into it this afternoon.
I'm loving this new content. Just subbed to the palace pod as well ❤💙
Maybe worth covering this Paqueta saga that's unfolding
Just about to do one on Leeds, will try and fit Paqueta in today too. If not today, then definitely tomorrow. 🤝
@@HLTCOMEDIA excellent - looking forward to more of these!
Briliant video loving the new format Keep it up
Good luck for the new chapter
Thanks so much, Gareth. It means the world to have you along for the ride.
@HLTCOMEDIA My pleasure. Hopefully an exciting season ahead at Selhurst as well. 😅
You're the best man
Haha! Thank you very much mate. 🤝
Be interested to hear what your thoughts are on the Paqueta situ, Dan
Will do mate, just about to record one on Leeds. Will try and do Paqueta today too. If not today, definitely tomorrow.
I know it’s not the only thing to his game but the fact that these sort of numbers are been talked about for what is effectively ball winning dms is just mental, a few years ago when tiki taka was seemingly going to be the dominant force in football would never have guessed this is what would surpass it and these sort of “unfashionable” players would now be considered superstars
The game definitely works in shifts of preference as far as I’m concerned. The current flavour of the month is your Caicedo/Lavia model. That said, the PL is very much an isolated bubble of mad spending.
Since Caicedo and Rice have commanded over 100m, how much do you reckon Doucoure is worth in this market Dan?
More than anyone is willing to pay this summer.
Bet poch can’t believe his luck with how much Chelsea are spending
Quite right mate, a real departure from his days at Spurs.
Loosely related, Dan, but I'm curious if you have a view of the long-term consequences of Chelsea's spending? I wonder if there's validity to the view that Chelsea could end up boxed in 4-6 years from now when a logjam of amortization charges makes it difficult to sell, recruit, and stay in FFP compliance? Enjoying the videos, keep up the great work.
So IF the rumours are true about Olise potentially going to Chelsea, do you think them spending £115m on Caicedo means they're likely to lose that interest in Olise?
Honestly, with their approach to the market, I highly doubt it. Might they give him a 27 year contract and barely play him? I'd suggest it's on the cards.
@@HLTCOMEDIA with Chelsea's history of having top quality players sitting there doing nothing I hope for his sake (as well as ours) that he stays at Palace.
