    Bush Beans - Pole Beans ... Green Beans Growing either low in a bush or trellised on a tall pole - they can be purple or waxed/ivory -, black eyed peas are a bean, so many beans to dry for nice long tern storage.

    Beans have been my favorite crop so far this year! I discovered a brand new variety this year which I love-Blue Lake Superior! They are upright bushy plants, produce prolifically and are tender and delicious raw or steamed! They are a great morning snack while I’m watering the garden. They are perfect for my GreenStalk container gardens! I will be succession planting all season! I heard about them from Growfully with Jenna (similar growing zone as mine 6b in MO) who was a new variety tester in 2023. I found them on Jung Seed and now sold out. But keep your eyes out in the future. I think this will be a big winner! I first heard about you from JJ Heller, one of my favorite singers and I love to see her kitchen garden updates you helped her create! I have both of your books!

    Love beans! And your channel! Are pole beans the same with all the benefits? Rabbits ate the leaves off the bush beans in my garden twice, even after putting netting around it.
    Pole beans lift the leaves above their reach. I moved to a different house & last year tried potting them, but it was not as bountiful as straight in the dirt. This year, a small waste basket with the bottom cut off, is protecting the lower portion.
    Do you recommend any other beans besides green?

    • @Gardenary
      @Gardenary  3 місяці тому +1

      I love royalty purple and dragon's tongue too. There are lots of bush bean options out there for fresh harvesting! Pole beans have all the same benefits except you need a structure for them to climb, of course. I actually prefer the flavor of pole beans, and you get a more continuous harvest. Very creative on the waste basket!

    I’ve tried growing two types of beans from seeds I got from bakers creek (so it’s good quality beans) yet im having absolutely no germination lol everything I’ve planted, including hard to start stuff like moringa, lavender, carrots, asparagus is thriving and I live in zone 9b lol I’ve planted over 15 bean seeds and none sprouted 😭 I’ve started a few in my grow tent as well as outdoors to see which would grow yet I’m having no luck! Everything else in my garden thrives but I can’t seem to start beans!

      I wouldn't plant this close together in the ground. The raised beds are needed to give roots plenty of room. For my in-ground garden, I give herbs and flowers more space so that they only really touch once they're fully grown in.

    I HATE green beans. I'll NEVER grow them. EVERYBODY has always said that I'll love THEIR green beans. I've always hated them. The taste & texture are abhorrent! I choke on them and then throw up! Not allergic, they're just terrible! Beyond the fact that when I was younger, I had to sit for HOURS to clean and snap green beans. I even hated them for all the work involved with them.
