hi Gregg at 4:08 you can see an example of "balloon" construction they did not build as we do today the result was buildings twisted and leaned with the wind and snow...this style was also common on the canadian prairies..until they started to build a floor, then added walls and built a second floor on the walls and added a second set of walls on the floor above...previously with "balloon" the second floor was built hanging off the side walls ..not resting on the lower walls as we do today...when hanging the upper floor just by nails it was weak altho' likely faster to erect...
