Guys, thanks for getting Ronnie back in the fitting room. This series is great.
THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND!
RONNIE 🔥🔥🔥
Great video for us older viewers with similar club speed.
When I heard what Ronnie was looking for with new irons, I thought that his description fit with at least one of the new Mizuno offerings. Also, it's pretty great that TXG has customers come back in to confirm the fit, going the extra step to guarantee the best for the customer.
Oh hell yes we need a WITB & course Vlog with Ronnie. Love seeing him on the channel 👍
I saw Ronnie once at GolfTown in Aurora and he was almost in a disguise. He's a golf celebrity now!
TXG is on fire in 2023 with the content! Well done gents. Keep up the great work! 🙌🙌🙌💯💯
Can't wait to see the Ronnie WITB!!! Great job guys!!
Nice fitting session. It is important for the fitter to recognize when fatigue starts to set in and the player needs to come back another day to get a better fit. So many places don't di this. Kudos to you boys fir doing it. Cheers.
Were his original MP 18 MMC irons bent slightly when you fitted him? The screen shows him hitting a club with a loft of 29.5 degrees. The MP 18 MMC 7 iron was 32 degrees and the 6 iron was 28 degrees, so this looks like a 6 iron bent 1.5 degrees weaker.
Ronnie is an absolute credit to the game of golf, love his videos guys
you should do more with folks like Ronnie. he is a great person to see how you work with different clubs, shafts etc... to find a path. Also can't wait for whats in the bag :)
Love the Ronnie videos! TXG is the best, truly there to optimize the client's game first and make a sale second.
So pleased to see you do confirmation sessions, when somebody is not tired.
Also very happy to see you have MCC+4 grips out there. I certainly swing "standard" grips differently, how can they NOT be significant to a fine fitting?
Went and got fitted this past weekend and I went with the Mizuno JPX 923’s forged with a X-stiff shaft. Best feeling strike yet. Grouping was incredible, plus distance.
These videos with Ronnie just make me happy
How come you didn't have him try the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal HL irons? Likely similar spin to the Forged, but higher launch and probably longer.
Thought we might see the HLs… guess sole width?
Always enjoy seeing Ronnie getting fit!
No Mizuno Hot Metal High Launch? I would have imagined that was designed exactly with players like Ronnie in mind?
Have we tried the JPX 923 Hotmetal HL product from Mizuno for Ronnie?
Enjoy the Ronnie videos everytime!
I had a custom fitting in the uk last month. I have a spinal injury from being hit off my bicycle by a car so need a forgiving club plus I only started playing last year. The ping 430’s were great, and so were the paradym x irons. Paradym were that little bit better for me so went with them, but the pings look nicer. Both great clubs for me
Was Ronnie's existing Mizuno MP18 MMC clubs using a mid-size +4 grip or standard? Was there a change in the shaft weight on the JPX923 Forged setup to adjust for the additional weight of the mid size +4 grip?
Great video guys, I enjoyed watching the process. You guys were right on, before you even started.
Ronnie was a very consistent striker of the ball. I'm going to see my brother in Kingston, On. When
I get up there, I'll call you and see if I could get an appointment to see you guys. Be careful & have fun!!
What about srixson s zx4 for Ronnie???
I love to see Ron in the swing bay, he's around my age and what you can do for him, I might be older by the yardage of his seven iron though. Good stuff guys, thanks.
Ronnie is the goat!
Those Mizuno's look amazing
I loved the video. I love watching your process. I am definitely in the market for new irons this year because my taylormade m6 irons are feeling too heavy. I sure wish I had access to your fitting process. The fittings that I have been a part of are much less precise and knowledgeable
Ut Oh...He is Back!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, Ronnie aka The Don Ron, aka McRonnie, aka Ron-a-Roll is back. Let's get him fit boys!!! Love seeing The Don getting ready for the season!!!
I love the "outward" mentality. This is why I got i59s down a flex from ZX5/7. I wanted to feel more feedback. We'll see how scores go but I might stick with them even if I shoot a stroke or 2 worse.
Brilliant work Guys and looking forward to Ronnie's WITB👍👍
Great video! I Just got fitted for these JPX Forged. Was launching a bit low and roughly 5000 spin. They couldn’t bend on-site so we ordered bent 1*weak to help with launch/spin. I hope that works🤞🏽.
Just curious why the High Launch version wasn't considered? Would seem like Ronny would fit in that pretty well?
I haven't even watched the vid yet, but please tell me it's not a TM or Cally!
I thought the same thing after seeing him hit the ping. He will walk out with the 923 HL. Interesting it wasn’t even tired. Although having owned the 6i it has a lot wider topline than my g425 irons. So maybe he didn’t like the phat look.
My question is why is he hitting a 27 degree iron? Ping make a 34 degree 7 hybrid and I can’t wait to get one! I might only have the G430 9 iron as my longest iron die to the loft!
Love this video, great content
Surprised you didn’t try the 923 Hot Metal HL. I know they have fairly wide soles but I thought they’d theoretically work well for Ronnie as far as height and spin goes
There were some good suggestions mentioned in the posts (Hot Metal HL) and I would like to add one more - Ping i525. gets high with distance.
2 of the many things that impress me about Ron are that, despite his short-ish backswing, he produces really good acceleration through the impact zone and, his humility. @13:15 "Am I worthy of 'what's in the bag'?". Ronnie, Ronnie, come on. You're a superstar of TXG TV. That alone makes you worthy. But add your steadfast denial of the aging process and highly relatable yet constantly improving game , and who could be more worthy? ☺
So looking forward to that one boys. Don't forget to detail the shafts, grips and ball Ronnie chooses for 2023 🙂
Fantastic informative video. 👍🏻👍🏻
Was there any significant changes to swing weight? If so what were the differences? I'd love to see you guys doing another blind swingweight test with irons/wedges. Perhaps with Ronnie as the subject?
The Mizuno JPX 923 forged irons are 7 iron 30 degrees, 6 iron 27 degrees. The screen shows 28 degrees. Did you weaken a 6 iron one degree?
Love to see you tie in a ball fit in the final session
Great seeing Ronnie in for irons! Would Jpx hot metal pro be too wide of a sole?
How about using a different ball given his own gear with the adjustment made. Moreover, when he does come back in to test the new gear a different ball may help his spin and ball hight without loosing distance.
The Ping G430 6 iron is 4 degrees stronger at 25.5, so basically a 5 iron, and logically should go further. Did not get more height or spin, also logical. The second G430 says 27 degrees. Did you bend that a degree and a half weaker?
Am curios- think Ronnie would do well with Great big Bertha irons given Mikey’s results- light, high and far
Do you monitor back spin and side spin separately? Where I go they are separate. I tend to have quite a bit of left side spin. That reduces back spin. I have been working on making a better turn and swinging the club in a circle with a relatively low finish and avoiding releasing and closing the face, instead of a finish out to the right ending up high. On a 52 degree wedge shot, that can reduce left side spin or even produce a bit of right side spin, which can increase back spin by 50%. Have been working on this for 50 and 75 yard shots to improved ability to stop the ball quickly on short approach shots that are frequent at my ability level when I miss the green or cannot reach it.
Well done Ronnie 👏
I honestly believe that most golfers that watch this channel could be fit into the JPX Forged or Hot Metal Pro, with an appropriately weighted Steelfiber shaft and the shown Align Mid Sized +4 grip.
If I'm getting a new set of clubs, should I buy what I think feels the best and then get a fitting, or should I let a fitter suggest clubs for me and then purchase?
A lot or nervous energy going into fitting (my experience) and when the adrenaline stops flowing you can fall off the cliff a little.
Good to ask for a 5 minute break, take in some water, hit a few half wedge shots to keep a bit of timing then start afresh.
Thumbs up for Ronnie, before even watching the video to completion!
Is it actually worth the upgrade to the JPX? Carry increases 5yrds, total is 2yrds, and there is less spin with the JPX. I might have missed it, but what ball is he using? Would a PROV1x or something with higher spin be better? There is obvious increase in ball speed and launch, but it still seems like it would be hard to stop on the green with similar decent and less spin.
Class love it
I would LOVE to have a game with Ronny.....a Dude amongst Men✊
Just a comment for all suggestions Ronnie hit the hot metal HL. I have a very similar profile to Ronnie, just had a Mizuno fitting and the HL had way too much spin. Went in thinking the HL would be good for me but the hot metal was a significantly better fit.
Watching your video from a while back comparing you had a comparison that included the JPX923 and the Forged Tecs. Any reason not to try him in the Cobras, or was it mostly because he already has familiarity with Mizuno's?
Does this session represent a typical cub champion fitting? Definitely looking forward to what’s in the bag for the average golfer!
I think this depends on the fitter. I have had a couple friends go through CC fittings and it was more of a "whoa look at your improved ball speed" fitting rather than a holistic approach like we see from TXG
@@johnmayer4746 I was worrying that this was actually the case. The videos reflect what we all would like to see at a fitting but the real experience not so. Especially so at what are considered high end and cost centres like club champion formally TXG. With ever increases cost of golf equipment you have to question the value at club champion type Center when compared to say your club pro and or even a place like golf town.
Wondering if an A Series 65 R would work for Ronnie. My dad was fitted in to that exact shaft with Mizuno JPX HM head with a bit stronger loft. 27* maybe. 165 carry.
I am 74, I am going to test the new Mizuno JPX 923's and HL!
|Would you try the 525 or 230?
I'd be curious to see his numbers if you weakened the lofts by 2degrees. He'd still be longer but with a better decent angle and higher spin rates, no?
At 4000 spin and 41 decent angle will it stop on the greens? At what spin and decent angle would you consider increasing the loft?
RONNIE! My man!
What grips are on Ronnie’s gamers? MCC+4 Midsize are heavy? Are the JPX and Mizuno’s he’s trying a lower swingweight?
1 or 2 degrees weak on these irons and Ronnys landing angle will be a stat of pros, and still getting 5-6 yards more carry than before.
Question: The loft of a JPX923 Forged is 30 or 31 degrees. The JPX923 Hot Metal is 28.5 degrees. You didn't mention it on the video, but I'm guessing you bent the JPX923 Forged to 28?
Ronny rocks. Why not try some Srixon irons! I don’t have any allegiance for a brand but my gut says Srixon. I’m probably so wrong.
Out of curiosity, did you try a p790 along with the p770, or was it too wide-soled?
ronnie is hitting good for 70+ yr old guy... good on him
still jonesin’ to see him hit that TSR1 with an auto flex
Why not try the 923 HM high launch?
Where can I find that SteelFiber i60 shaft and what is the price?
Love the idea of a Ronnie WITB .
Why not ping 230? I got 210 and gets good spin numbers with lowish club head speed
What does it mean from a numbers standpoint to be a picker? Lowpoint right at the ball? AoA and Dynamic Loft can be really whatever though right?
Low AoA. Ronnie is upward on some of these strikes. Low point isn't necessarily right at the ball (that's why Ronnie's miss would be a chunky/scrapey one).
Shallow to neutral attack angle. Basically sweeping across the top of the turf “picking” the ball cleanly opposed to hitting down through it. Loses spin and pops the ball up.
Is Ronnie not a candidate for Srixon. Pre-worn leading edge etc.
So what Driver did Ronnie pick.
Babe wake up new TXG video fitting Ronnie just dropped
Which driver did he get
If his original shaft weighs 81 grams and you have him in a 60 gram shaft with the final JPX, wouldn't he be likely to have increased tip deflection creating slightly higher dynamic loft than with his MP18s. In other words, that contributed to higher peak as well as the loft.
Is just me or the baseline mizuno was a 29deg loft and the Ping was 25 !?
100 % coming back for Ronnie what is in the bag
We need a course playing vlog with Ronnie, Mattie, and Ian.
Hi boys great insightful episode again.
What irons and shaft combo could you recommend for 85-90mph 7 iron player with low spin currently have p790 with dynamic gold s300 105 I hit 180yards carry with landing angel 40degrees launch 18 ball 121mph height 31yards spin 4000rpm area
Been practicing with a p7mc with a ventus blue r shaft and getting better results aprox 160yards carry
How do we get some driver head to heads , driver bracket? This is uninteresting
These clubs lofts are gettin nuts. My daughter is having same issue as Ronnie, they don’t spin and no height so they roll out too much, I told fitters I wanted height and spin and by far the best for that was jpx 923 forged and tours. Distance is not that important with irons
Whats Ronnie's handicap?
Ronaldo representing 50 iron shots is no joke
interesting test and results. It was unfortunate that a larger graph of results could not have been shown. There was a stark different in lofts, example Mizuno at 29.5 vs G430 at 25.5 and of course you did an excellent job of changes in the lie, and shafts. I would have loved a chart for each change no matter how small to see all the impacts. Loft, 25.5, 27, 28, 29.5 and of course Lie's of Flat, Standard, and 2 degrees upright. And yes solo and multiple Loft and Lies changes occurred in a single change. You had the data to draw upon with a few more categories......Thanks
I think a full fitting would improve my game a ton... I just can't spend on it... makes me sad. :(
🤔 Is Ronnie on the payroll yet ?😄
Love the JPX line for the amateur golfer!!!! Like said adds some horse pwr
This is my issue with fittings. Why are we acting surprised that his carry jumped 10 yards on a club with 4 degrees less loft? That’s a full club up so if he went to his old set and grabbed 6 iron it’d probably do the same thing. Now you’re just going to need more wedges.
This is amazing. He will be going from a 15.0 handicap to a 14.9 in no time. For the small price of about 4 grand worth of clubs and fittings.
Agreed, but he was quite clear that he didn't want to go backwards in terms of distance so then it becomes a value proposition. How much is he willing to spend to add some distance and maintain it for as long as possible.
@@bryan4907 haha...look at ball, hit ball. These guys who charge $800 for fittings...good lord. Get a set of p790's and some sim2 max woods and be done with it. No one over a 5 handicap is going to see a difference from a stiff shaft to a regular shaft. Or a 105 weight vs a 95.
His gamers sound soooo much better.
I really like the suggestion of bringing Ronnie back “to confirm the fit.” I can relate to getting tired (exhausted, even) after hitting ball after ball after ball in a fit, but have never had a fitter make that suggestion. Kudos to TXG for pressing pause before having Ronnie pull the trigger 👍
