I show the 5th episode to my Environmental Science class every year, and every year they are engrossed with the disaster that is this explosion. As I say every year, there's a scientific explanation for why this explosion and consequential disaster occurred, but the reason why it blew up isn't scientific at all.

      1. Chernobyl could have completely irradiated Europe, killing millions in a matter of weeks, and completely destabilizing the world economy.
      2. The core had turned into radioactive lava, which even all of the liquid nitrogen in the USSR couldn't solidify it.
      3. More than 50000 people could have died due to an idiots order.
