    I really enjoy your insights so far! If I could make one note to you (as a former sound engineer), I'd recommend you fade your intro music out earlier, or start talking a little later. In particular, the vocals directly compete with what you are saying -- I'd recommend fading out before the vocals get too loud. It'll be easier for us to become engaged to what you're saying from the start that way. Please keep up the great videos!

    Very helpful!! When I got started - I was using WAYY too many filler words. The action command tip is super helpful to cut out all the fluff!
    I also love the “feel into the pose” tip. I love when I hear these cues myself because it breaks up the monotony and helps me get aligned with the deeper side of yoga beyond the poses! 💙

    Great tips on cues... Totally agree on a combination of clear instructions and reflective. Also what I am seeing in teaching is easing the students into simpler steps and building it up. It helps them trust the instructor

    Such great advice. I have trouble when I am in a class as a student and I fixate on how many times I hear "we're gonna" or "let's". It's something I strive to fix on my own teaching. Even playing back my zoom and UA-cam videos I have started to find more corrections and improve.

    Amazing video! Thanks so much:) what tips can you give regarding keeping students active/focused in poses as the teacher walks around the room?

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  7 років тому +2

      Malexah Morob! It depends what kind of class you're teaching. If you're teaching a class with more advanced students, they will tend to stay focussed because feel confident in not looking at you. However if you were teaching to beginners, they likely need more physical demonstration. So if it is your advanced students, you can encourage them to feel their body and go inside in order to take the focus off of you. You can even ask them to close their eyes. However if it's beginners, then you simply may have to give more physical demonstrations in the class. I hope that helps! ❤️

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  5 років тому

      Sorry this is so late in coming! In a nutshell: 1. cue to the body so they are focusing inwardly, 2. walk sensitively so that you are not directly in their eyeline, 3. resist eye contact. All that said, I totally make eye contact and walk in front of them all the time, but it creates a different vibe. One vibe nourishes introspection, while eye contact and being "visible" as a teacher creates more community/uplift/party vibe. Thanks :)

      Hi...I recently done with my yttc in October!! I'm still not clear how to teach yoga to others!! 😔😔

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  4 роки тому

      Akshaya Sivakumar That is OK! It takes a lot of time. In my experience, the teacher training just gives you the information but there’s not always the time to integrate and practice. So now as you begin to teach you will get to practice the things that you learned :-) be patient with yourself, teach from the heart, and you will be wonderful.

      Hey Rob, yes, you're quite right. Audio was dreadful on this one. I actually had a room mic here, but the room was so bright that, well, you see what has happened. But, since people liked the video so much and it had so many views, I have left it up. The vast majority of my other videos have mics if this is content that interests you.
