The Hakone Venetian Glass Museum is having Raden voice the audio guide for their ongoing perfume glass exhibition that lasts until January 13, 2025, so do check it out if you happen to be in the area! Translation note: 2:37 I've translated kanshiin (監視員) to "attendant" here since a Japanese kanshiin's duties are analogous to a museum attendant's. The name kanshiin literally means "monitoring staff". Do keep in mind that Raden's explanation here applies to a Japanese context and not necessarily in other countries.
As always thank you for your wonderful translations of Raden! As a museum and Raden enthusiast I appreciate your work a lot! Btw, In some smaller museum's the security attendants and the Museum docents are the same. The Museum docent is usually a volounteer, or part time worker often a student, that does the guided tours of the museums. They tend to be quite knowledgeable
I visited the Glass Museum shorty after Raden's birthday stream. It's truly a great museum. Lots of surprises, like a couple of musicians playing (a cello player and a shamisen player, both at separate times.) Raden's audio guide makes it really tempting to go on a spontaneous trip to experience her explaining perfume bottles.
I always love the unabashed "HEY, CLIPPERS! CLIP THIS!" when they really want to get something out there lmao. Cool she was able to clarify and teach us what the attendants do! Thanks for the subs!
I just love how passionate she is with the things she likes and knows so much about them down to where the bathrooms are, its just so fun to see someone like that
Think about it, it's such an untapped niche. Which Vtuber is an educated museum nerd... Raden that's who and all of those museums curators can and will simp for her
@@EndoftheBeginning17 It also helps that Raden has worked as a museum curator before, so she definitely knows what she's talking about. This is the kind of thing fame and clout are useful for: spreading the word of what you like to people who normally wouldn't notice.
When a museum has a membership to your channel you know you are doing something good. Cover struck gold with Raden and tapped on a completely unexploited audience with her. I mean, they have done it with every single talent, but Raden is quite different from everyone else when it comes to content.
She had to stop smoking because when museums started to get friendly with her she wanted to give a more professional image. And also aki rose, her oshi, told her to
Never heard of her before but I saw the word "curators" in the autoplay and, as a museum person, had to come see. She is right. Thank you for spreading this important message, Raden and clipper.
She knows this because she is a former curator. Also there exists a dedicated channel called “art class from Hololive Juufuutei Raden clip” with clips when she talked about art works, techniques and so on.
I really love this position Raden's managed to get herself into where she's like a vtuber spokesperson for arts and culture, all these different museums/galleries pay attention to her and she's enthusiastic to spread their word.
Raden proving that the people sitting are, indeed, attendants and testifying that said attendants often tell her to be quiet, which proves that she is, indeed, real.
I could see this woman hitting a museum and just go gaga over everything and absolutely freak it, just lose all sense of propriety and get more and more excited
@@EndoftheBeginning17I bet it would be fun going to a museum with her. Especially if it's like, her giving you a tour. Getting all excited explaining everything, getting surprised by stuff they added/removed from the last time she'd been there... She seems really energetic in the first place, imagine seeing her in a place she likes
Gotta say, Raden is really innovating with her marketing. I've never seen a streamer asked to get clipped and even provide the title. It's even exaggerated to get more clicks!
As addendum: 1) think of a curator's work as a very smart manager - not only do they have to manage the parts of the museums collection, but they are also required to know a lot about what they manage. They have to think about the objects being shown, which needed a touch up, if other museums would like to borrow these objects, how they're being presented (lighting from above? bellow? where to put the information text?), what are the informations and contexts surrounding the objects (a painting from Van Gogh is not the same as Munch - despite both men being born only 10 years apart, and needless to say is way different than those of Caravaggio or Rubens) and if they're doing an exhibition, they are also manage the exhibition. Sure there might be other departments that does help with other events, but the curators have to be informed too, just in case different groups directly requests the museum to visit the exhibition and get a guided tour. So yes, a curator is a very smart manager that knows a lot of things about a lot of objects and also how to manage these objects. 2) attendants (or where I used to work visitor service, but yes - monitoring staff would not be a bad translation) is basically 90% guards, 10% guides. Their most pressing job is to keep visitors from getting to near and accidentally or knowingly touch the artworks - unless the artworks wants to be touched. This is basically due to the most common conservation guidelines (which is another whole genre of job in a museum). One case that I personally experienced was with a kid that in my opinion was just trying to be an ass and tried to get as close as possible to a painting. Kid got warned by the attendants with a pretty stern tone - said kid did the same thing multiple times - and almost got kicked out from the exhibition room. But like Raden said, they're there basically to inform and enforce the house rules - about photography, distance towards an artwork, direct questions and complaints from visitors etc. From my experience there were no forced seminars that the attendants have to attend (after all their primary function is more security than educational), but I did remember a curator giving a small seminar directly in front of the work (yes, singular!) that was being shown. This is also due to the concepts of workers in a museum itself - usually security and education is - as I've mentioned - separated, despite there being overcrossing parts (the best thing a tour guide can do to not piss off the security and get a house ban is to keep their group under control and not get too close - or god forbid touch - the works), but there are also two differing skill sets that the workers have to learn (both groups might have to learn how to interact with people, but one have to know more about conflict deescalation whilst the other have to know more about the information around multiple artworks). And best case scenario is that both attendants and tour guides are getting paid training in the skills they needed - either by the museum or by external service providers. so yes, the attendants are there to make sure your visit is comfortable, including not getting you into bigger trouble by accidentally touching the artworks (the smaller trouble being surprised and/or annoyed.
My god, what a shocking revelation! A huge announcement! Mostly commenting for the algorithm, but I thought I'd say thanks for clipping Raden. I find her content and approach to streaming really cool, but alas I don't yet speak Japanese. So, I end up just thinking she's really interesting without really being able to watch her other than via clips such as these.
The fact she's got a gallery commenting via membership really shows her reach. I'm aware she's partnering with this gallery, but they are still active with her and she got the collab in the first place.
Not just one, I believe there's several official museum and bookstore accounts that are subed and members to her channel. I know there are bookstores in Japan that have their own official Raden corner where they display books she reads or recommends on stream.
I watched this clip yesterday, and today while working as a gallery attendant I met a Raden cosplayer visiting the museum!! What a coincidence! I'm so happy!!😄❤ Thanks Raden and thanks for the clip!
the curators natural habitat is a hidden tunnel network behind the walls and floors of a museum. Rarely they will venture out during operating hours and only in the most dire of circumstances.
学芸員(がくげいいん) = Similar to a curator, an professional that completes a national exam to participates in various area of culture collection/preserving/display/research. 監視員(かんしいん) = museum attendant(gallery attendant) = security, they're there to make sure the art is safe, and general interactions with the audience such as location directing. by just translating it to "attendant" might miss the message again, as common people like me wouldn't even know what the curator is in the museum, and wouldn't be able to distinct the difference of a museum attendant and just an attendant.
It is a shame that UA-cam is currently demonitizing clipper videos. Something about clips not being the original work. It is just executives not understanding the culture. They don't understand how useful clippers are to Vtubers. Hopefully people can explain to UA-cam how important clippers are to many creators.
The timeliness of the exhibition is delightful, especially since I'll be on a mountain trail hike that'll take me past the museum before leading to the mountain.
I remember seeing clips where several museums and art galleries comment/superchat on her stream but an 8 month membership commitment sounds crazy. Makes me wonder if there are others, and how many lol.
