@@ramiabdalla2661 It probably isn't, considering that (if my translation is correct) the warning is referring to YOUR game copy. The copy that YOU own, prohibited by law.
And the Japanese text. Japanese words on a black screen of a television or computer monitor, if they are pixelated or accompanied with some unsettling imagery, I'd be shitting bricks.
I had this awful nightmare last night, when I was playing Super Mario 64, the message on the screen told me that copying Mario games is illegal and Mario came out of the T.V. and said you better not copy my games or Bowser will chase you down the castle halls.
Sounds hella creepy, but atleast it wasn‘t as merciless as my nightmares back then Maybe you remember the PS2 RSoD? Well in my nightmares, there were no real warnings no. Any TV I looked at turned on and played the startup leading to the RSoD. A hand came out and dragged me in, every freaking time, there was no escape. Funny enough, this still happens to me like 10 years later, but since I am able to lucid dream in a way it is not as powerful as it was back then.
Why does this seem comedic to me? It's just like "aww man, this wasn't the real game? Whoopsie doopsie!" Maybe I'm just not currently in a vulnerable mood.
Things like that tend to take away from the creepiness. You're expecting something to happen, and the suspense keeps building. It stays with you longer if there's no jumpscare. If they were to do that, it should have been something subtle, like Mario's eyes darting toward the camera at... hmm, 0:16, and staying like that to the end of the video.
This actually looks like something a child would actually see in his nightmares the bowser sound the game over theme sound slightly different a black screen with creepy text not to mention the bowser transition at the beginning of the error screen just gives me the chills
Since this is 1995-96, I wouldn't be suprised if it was originally called ビデオゲーム but just got shortened over time. Kinda like how in the mid 2000's people might refer to videos online as "video clips" or how ages ago people referred to TV as "television" but no one really uses that these days informally
Most anti piracy screens: hyper realistic blood and Death threats The right way to do it: make it not so creepy but out of place, and subtle and quiet.
It’s so funny how simple this one is, yet it gives me chills much more than the others do. I feel like it’s because of how realistic it is. There’s no jump scares, no creepy added music, etc. - Just a panicked looking Mario with serious words on the screen along with the game over music. Tbh if I came across this as a kid, it would creep me out WAY more than anything that was trying to purposefully be scary.
of all the fake anti-piracy screens that arose recently, this one is still my favorite. its not overtly creepy, or even that out of place. it channels the creepiness that actual real anti-piracy screens have without being like "you are a criminal who pirates games & btw luigi is bleeding to death". i lliek it

Mario gets sentenced to prison on Delfino Isle for piracy.

A good anti piracy change to sunshine would be just trapping you in the prison cell.
He got arrested for playing his own game

A person can pop in any disc they want in their computer and it's no one else's business. If using pirated games was a crime then just end humanity already for copying other people's ideas
I love how they made this screen threatening even to adults. They’re the ones actually pirating the game. Then you have the children who innocently want to play the game and end up going through this trauma
It's fake, bro.

Thank you! I was wondering what the Japanese text says.
Was scrollin for 10 years lookin for this
I thought it said "This video game copy is prohibited by law" ???
that’s so much less frightening than the english text
@@ramiabdalla2661 It probably isn't, considering that (if my translation is correct) the warning is referring to YOUR game copy. The copy that YOU own, prohibited by law.
If every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized, not being able to play the game at all is probably the worst iteration.
It's not that scary when you read it in mario's voice, and think of it like mario just got scammed into buying a non-functional game.
Woah you’re right
i know its fake but if this ever existed, a mario voiceover would make it way less frightening
I got to try this
They really made this scary, the fact that they 1. Made a black void, to make this just creepy. 2. Add in that bowser laugh. 3. The rest of it.
And no goofy look on Mario either. His expression looks as if you're gonna get in trouble by doing something that was against the law.
good idea for anti piracy. Or just make the game really hard and literally impossible.
5 reasons why this anti-piracy screen is creepy. Bowser. Laugh. Game. Over. Sound.
@Caleb Hopkins basically saying "your game ended before it could even begin."
And the Japanese text. Japanese words on a black screen of a television or computer monitor, if they are pixelated or accompanied with some unsettling imagery, I'd be shitting bricks.
It's not really scary just this creepy sense of unease.
That's the point of it
I had this awful nightmare last night, when I was playing Super Mario 64, the message on the screen told me that copying Mario games is illegal and Mario came out of the T.V. and said you better not copy my games or Bowser will chase you down the castle halls.
Sounds hella creepy, but atleast it wasn‘t as merciless as my nightmares back then
Maybe you remember the PS2 RSoD? Well in my nightmares, there were no real warnings no. Any TV I looked at turned on and played the startup leading to the RSoD. A hand came out and dragged me in, every freaking time, there was no escape.
Funny enough, this still happens to me like 10 years later, but since I am able to lucid dream in a way it is not as powerful as it was back then.

Looks that way to me, too. But then again, I also found the Mad Piano funny.

MARIO.RAR
Things like that tend to take away from the creepiness. You're expecting something to happen, and the suspense keeps building. It stays with you longer if there's no jumpscare. If they were to do that, it should have been something subtle, like Mario's eyes darting toward the camera at... hmm, 0:16, and staying like that to the end of the video.
This actually looks like something a child would actually see in his nightmares the bowser sound the game over theme sound slightly different a black screen with creepy text not to mention the bowser transition at the beginning of the error screen just gives me the chills
And mario...

I think that's the point.
Actually Nintendo would suppose you copy the cartridge from somewhere else, perhaps an original copy borrowed by a friend(?)
Boom, paradox.
shh just call it their way of forcing you to buy a real one :) It's an AD
Bit of a nitpick, but ive not seen the term ビデオゲーム used. Its always just ゲーム by itself.
Kinda odd, yeah.
テレビゲーム Would have been more appropriate.
Every cartridge's Japanese is also personalized
5MadMovieMakers O dang
Since this is 1995-96, I wouldn't be suprised if it was originally called ビデオゲーム but just got shortened over time. Kinda like how in the mid 2000's people might refer to videos online as "video clips" or how ages ago people referred to TV as "television" but no one really uses that these days informally
Most anti piracy screens: hyper realistic blood and Death threats
The right way to do it: make it not so creepy but out of place, and subtle and quiet.
This would've scared me as a child because of the music and the fade and of Mario kinda sad or something. It's unsettling.
imaging if the “piracy detected” screens were replaced with rickrolls

It’s so funny how simple this one is, yet it gives me chills much more than the others do. I feel like it’s because of how realistic it is. There’s no jump scares, no creepy added music, etc. - Just a panicked looking Mario with serious words on the screen along with the game over music. Tbh if I came across this as a kid, it would creep me out WAY more than anything that was trying to purposefully be scary.

"please refer to your nintendo game instruction booklet"
