Before the Emmit Till case in Mississippi, there was The Massey case in Kalihi, where a white woman yelled rape and a young Hawaiian teenager was kidnapped by three white men and killed by them! They were found guilty of the murder and they were all sentenced to a day in the Governors office and allowed to fly home the very next day per the Governor! Joseph Kahahawai was an innocent Hawaiian, until Da Haoli wen scream rape..............what are your thoughts and feelings...........tell me so I can feel your pain! Honestly, I hate how this whole case went down!
and then the parkland 5 (2006 or something), groveland 4 (1960s or so)... they just brought what they imposed on black men in the states into the islands.
Roughly 80% of this "documentary" if you want to call it that, is absolutely made up. The headlines in most of the papers are fake, the font wasn't even available in the 30's. If you think this isn't just race baiting, then why do they mention southerners so many times, that Thomas Massie was from Kentucky, but never mention that Thalia Massie is from DC? Also, that isn't even close to how Hawaii became a state. It's all total bullshit. The only thing they get correct is that the five accused of rape were innocent. They also talk about there being so many white military people, mostly from the south. The Navy has had African Americans as sailors for over 100 years by then. There was around 20% of the fleet that was African American. Some later ships were named after these sailors. This is propaganda that would make Joseph Goebbels proud.
@Pinky Toe I had several friends stationed there. They lived on the island because we were an aviation Navy. I think only one guy was white. I have no idea why it would be different for ships, but maybe it's just perception. If only 20%-ish are black, and 5000/ship are ashore, then it would look like a white take over. IDK. I believe she was insane, and those boys are innocent, but this documentary is BS. Anything to accuse race. United States is the most diverse country in the world, and instead of mass media celebrating it, they continue to create divide. It's sickening really. Oh, and I think I can believe the South thing. They tend to be more military minded, however in my group most were from NE area and out West.
@@davidhart5231 I hear what you're saying but it's a fact race was a big deal during this time and was the catalyst for many violent incidents. Many military men were southern born and carried Jim Crow sensibilities with then just as they had during WWI and WWII/ Korea and Vietnam. Historically we know this is a fact - what purpose is served acting as if it's not plausible/likely in this instance? Island writers comment on racism as being an ever present issue. Are you saying they're all lying?
I just viewed this sad case on Netflix. These people are beyond evil to do what they did to the innocent young men.
Whats the name of it on Netflix
Title on Netflix?
Same? What's the title on Netflix
This is my family and this is how every generation is treated. Including me. The evil never ends in Hawaii to Hawaiian people.
@@alohaandchillohana My condolences. I've visited Joseph's grave a few times and left flowers. So terribly sad.
