Now THIS is how you do proper black representation at its core in an animated setting! 👏🏾 Black father AND Black mother with a Black child! Yes, this is important because a lot of animated shows want to make one parent non-black and act like healthy full black families don't exist. No disrespect to the interracial couples out there, but it's good to showcase black love at its core as well in animation.

Aye dw am mixed and I LOVE THIS SO SO MUCH it’s so nice to see a girl whoes black actually have a lot of Afro hair and not straighted the animation is so beautiful love how the dad adds cream to her hair and she not hurt from the comb since a lot of shows Afro hair in a negative light as in its hard to handle whne in reality it’s not as bad as TV says, can’t wait for the seris to be released it’s gonna change and touch the hearts of so many ppl 🥰🥰

Guess it's not the only animated thing from the internet getting his own show. It's good to see original animators and storytellers getting recognized for their proper work that they put together with all their heart getting properly recognized.

Good to see more black animation representation in media, it also looks very cute. but I’m also excited for the fact that this is set in Chicago, as someone who’s seen Chicago for myself, it looks really accurate to what is shown.

As somebody who grow up as a little black girl with a parent in the hospital, I remember when I first saw the short, I cried, because I have never seen a story like my represented before knowing this is gonna be a series is just so precious to me and makes me so happy :)

The original short gave me, a white person, my first real insight into how black people relate to their hair, which was never something I really thought about before. I found it really interesting alongside the genuinely cute family dynamic. This show seems to be continuing both aspects while going more in-depth and I can't wait to give it a watch. (Side note: I do like how the dad has tattoos and locs. Black characters with such features are almost always written as harmful stereotypes in other media.)
