wooow truely one of the best and nicest switchblade collections and displays i've ever seen. So beautiful. I have 6 AGA Campolin 11 + 13 inchers ....i'm more into Bowie knifes but this display really really impressed me alot.
You are so fortunate to be able to collect switchblades. Up here in Canada they are all classed as prohibited weapons under the Criminal Code of Canada with severe penalties for mere possession. You can't even protect yourself, your family, or your possessions.
Awesome collection this never gets boring, I'm getting there myself, it's an addiction people. Will you make an updated video one day? That will be even better. By now you got yourself a huge exhibit. Cool video.
Thanks again - glad you enjoy it. I have actually posted an updated video - the title is "Vintage switchblade collection update". Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/rRtbNPyugYc/v-deo.html
Wow! What a beautiful collection! 🤤 I really want to get me a swing guard! I have a bunch of swivel bolsters, they seem to be the most common, and I also have a lever lock! 😀 I even have a $30 swivel bolster that I use for EDC because I feel that Italian Stilettos are more dependable than OTF knives. I also have a good assortment of balisongs, some for EDC, some collector's pieces. I just love me some knives! 😁
There is a knife at the 2:17 mark. Beige handle, steel button in middle, two sided blade with a small hole near the guard in the blade. I found this exact make of knife in the woods- would love any info you have on the history/manufacturer!
Ash Catherwood Hello Ash. These knives were hand made by Mexican craftsmen back in the 1960's. Possibly as early as the 50's up until the 70's. Examples in the condition mine is in generally sell in the $200 range. I got mine in Puerto Vallarta Mexico in the early 80's. It was the only time I had seen these there among all of the Super Automatics and Rizzuto's that were so commonplace at the time. They were definately old stock when I stumbled across mine. You will see these up for auction on the Sharperdeal.com from time to time. Many of them are stamped "Mexico" on the blade, while mine and yours did not have that stamp.
Nice collection. I have a Mauro that I know was acquired in 1952 in Egypt and I assume was purchased new. It is most similar to the knife in your collection on the right at 2:50. It has MAURO and a crowned playing card style head on the blade. The blade is clip point and has a guard like the guard to the left at 2:50. On one side of this guard is stamped 12 and on the other 40. The handle is white and grey bone with a button switch and slide lock and suspender. The knife is in excellent working order and condition having spent its life in a drawer. So I was wondering if you tell me anything about my knife and what sort of value it has.
Sounds like an interesting knife. I have seen the Mauro Mario stamp, but not just Mauro. I have seen thousands of switchblades but would have to see a photo to give you an idea. Feel free to private message me one and I would be happy to give you my opinion
If you liked this video, watch my follow up video to this one titled Update to vintage switchblade collection. It features a large number of knives to the collection. It is odd to me that video has so many less views.
Hello there I've found one of these in a clear out on the blade iit says inox it looks like it's very old I've put some oil on it and now the blade coms out very quickly how would I know how old it is? Thanks
now, I know I've bid on a couple of those on Sharper Deals, the French OTF you just had up for auction, last I saw it was over $350 if I'm correct....I've only been collecting less than a year, but Ive got a pretty good start, Hubertus, Mikov, F. Beltrame, Nato's, Maltese, Imperial/Hammers, but not a lot of vintage ones yet, when I have room for more than a Dremel and wetstone and can fully recondition them I'll start looking at older ones, plus theyre a lot more expensive...Definitely do an update, Id love to see what else you have. subbed.
+Ivan Damico Thanks for the comment. I actually have never listed anything on Sharper Deals, although it is a great site! I picked up the French OTFs about 15 yrs ago or so. There is a lot of controversy regarding reconditioning vintage pieces as it may greatly reduce their value. I would say the prevailing attitude among the collecting community is to only restore the worst examples. Knife shows are a great place to build your collection.
then there are just several you have that I've only seen 2 places: SD and this vid, maybe its just wishful thinking, Im in college right now and dont have a regular cash inflow, after graduation I'll be able to buy more, I'm actually glad theyre still illegal in what , 15 states? (Including mine, Cali except for under 2 inch blade) , most people I talk to have no idea that they are legal now, but this confusion keeps prices high in some instances and low in others. I just dont know where to look for them, I will try trade shows (Im assuming hunting/gun or blade shows you mean), Ive tried posting want ads on Craigslist, but have very limited success with that . People tend to call wanting $199 for their old Microtech, one I did score was my Imperial IMOP for $10, and Mexico just has cheap Chinese imports. At the Cali border they are INSTRUCTED to look for: drugs, guns, and switchblades. Because like drugs and guns, switchblades are ruining this country. Lol. Unreal. Keep posting vids!
Thanks man. Really, the only Edgeco one I have is the black plastic OTF- 4th knife to the right in the first row shown. You should post a video of your collection. That is a lot of knives!
Impressive and beautiful collection ! I'm amazed ! Just for the record , how much would you value your entire collection ? With display case and magazines, boxes ... basicly everything in display box along with knives included. I'm asking this out of curiosity since I've seen some 1920's italian stillettos going as high as 4000$ a piece.
Incredible collection! Thank you for sharing. I also really like the display case. Can you tell us more about it? Like, was it custom made? Is it an antique from some old shop?
It is an original Case knives display case from 1941. It would of originally housed case switchblades and other knives. It came from the Grandson of the owner of one of the oldest hardware stores in Chicagoland.
Well, I'm just as jealous as you are lucky. lol Were there any hidden treasures left in the drawers when you bought the display case?.. An acquaintance of mine discovered two gold rings left in a locked safety box he bought at a flea shop. The shop owner didn't know about it. I call that a real steal. ;)
picktheblueone hey, that's some cool nostalgia! small things can be rewarding too.. :) .. I wish I could find a case like that because my switchblade collection is growing fast!
Hey Mickey, they are 1960 or 1970's shell pullers. The one on the right is a Zoppis/Jaguar I scored in a Rome flea market in the mid 90s. They are traditional side opening switchblades and not OTFs. Check out my follow up video to this one "Vintage Switchblade collection update". It shows many more knives as the collection grew.
hello friend I'm from Mexico, I have two vintage mexican switchable knives for sale. They are in good condition I think it would not come bad for your wonderful collection
Eureka! I have the bullfighter and another that is very similar the difference is that it has a deer engraved in the grip. I would like you to see them in photo
+zingsangh Always store them open because it runs down the spring over time and loses tension and store them in a storage case to keep the moisture and dust off.

Thanks! I really need to do an update video as my collection has grown quite a bit since I filmed this.pretty sure it is illegal to carry in my state as well. Doesn't make a difference to me as my knives never leave the display case.
Beautiful collection. I’m surprised the local school board allows you to keep them in such close proximity to children. Just kidding. I love all things that require mechanics to operate
You look a little too young for that. In any event, I sold all that you see on Sharperdeals about 9 months ago. I actually posted in the comments below that I was going to do that.
I've been collecting nice for my whole life I know there's at least 20 different different designs of switchblades and I at least wanted one for my collection cuz I already have at least several and I make my own knife
@TheBlakef1998 - I should probably make it clear that I am in no way a knife dealer of any kind - just a 2nd generation, old time collector. The vast majority of these knives were originally obtained in Europe, the rest were gifts. With that said, the answer to your question depends on where you live. They are not too hard to find in Europe, even these days. As far as in the US, I have no idea. Google seems like a good place to look for almost anything you could imagine, but U must be 18 yrs old
I have a stiletto oak case around 1900 .made by Muhs & lochbaum co in SF. 2' wide x 6'long. 2 front glass panels etched with the word STILETTO. You interested?
@@adamstanley4778 Actually, the Federal Switchblade Act of 1958 deems them illegal, although it's hit or miss as to whether the law is enforced. If they're part of a legitimate collection, you usually won't get hassled, but get caught carrying one in your pocket, and you might be in deep sh*t. Depends on the state or jurisdiction.
VERY impressive collection!
I got the display case from Craigslist! It came from the grandson of one of the oldest hardware stores in my state.
My hero cool cool cool
This is an amazing collection. 😮❤
That’s a fantastic collection and beautifully set in the display case’s.🤩👍

Do they say "Rizzuto El Stiletto" ?
A little description and dialog would have been nice.
Any 4 sale?

Are they stored open because of the springs pressure? I am unsure of how to store my automatics open or closed, which way is better?
+zingsangh Always store them open because it runs down the spring over time and loses tension and store them in a storage case to keep the moisture and dust off.
+Batesmotel1960 thanks for the advise! I saw how other people store their automatics and I'll leave mine open in a glass case now
One question about Italian switchblades. Is there a big difference between manufactures? Or are you just paying for name.
Most of the Italian makers these days have very similar quality and pricing.
Cool
Do u sell any i live in the uk i dont know if they can be shiped to england id love a switch just wondering if anyone knows
From one collector to another, where can I get a lever lock for cheap? Please comment back.
Still looking?

ask one question .............out of all whats ya fav ?
That is a tough one Clive! I really like odd patterns and the French & Spanish ones.
The only way this could be better is if that case was full of cigars and switchblades.
