    Some of the smartest advice on the avata, these people are buying it as a fpv freestyle drone it is just not designed for that. It’s a pro cinematography tool. A different play on filming

  • @Drone-Pilot
    @Drone-Pilot 2 роки тому +13

    Justin, thanks for your honest review, personally I don’t see DJI as serious FPV, I see them as flexible cinematic drones, we have been flying real FPV drones for a decade and always tweaking them etc since the very beginning and we know it’s a case of horses for courses. Your suggestion to the guys to get a small drone is absolutely the way to go for them, but for people like you, me and others we learnt by helicopters back before drones and absolutely no stabilisation at all, these modes they have now are simply wonderful.

    • @myfalconry76
      @myfalconry76 2 роки тому +3

      Absolutely right not a serious freestyle fpv or race quad. Just a cinewhoop probably wouldn’t be flipping out the way it dose.

      OK, Mr. Acro Bigshot, but for the 99% of us who aren't Acro Bigshots, the Avata is a totally fun and easy drone to fly.

    • @Drone-Pilot
      @Drone-Pilot 2 роки тому +5

      @@powerbackupchannel9902 Im not an Acro bigshot, I just learnt to fly without any stabilization, I love stabilization to be honest, that is how I make my money with drones, and yes for most people out there its more than just fun, I guess people like me probably get unstuck thinking it should perform more like a proper FPV setup and run into an issue expecting the drone nt to flip out when in fact it does. Its no big deal, Ive always said said and so many others do as well, your hobby, your money, you decide. To put it simply I would use this drone for a different view for realestate photos and also have some fun with it, its still quite a capable drone.

    @7:00 “and it’s landing itself… over in the weeds”. None of my Dji drones lately have been landing on the lighted orange H marked landing pad I take off from. I lift the drone off and let it hover till I get Home Point Updated and full 25+ gps satellites and 10/10 times it’s about 5-10 ft away and I override the landing. Apparently it doesn’t take a picture as a reference point when taking off anymore. This is in the DJI Mavic 3 classic, Avata and the mini 3 pro.

    If you turn it from the settings set to sport mode to manual mode will this prevent the drone from kicking in normal mode by its own when you fly further out. I quess thats due a saftey reason but on my avata when I was flying in manual mode in windy conditions this caused the opossite when it switched automaticly into normalmode making the drone to incline abruptly and throttle which made it flyaway 🤦🏼‍♂️.

    Good tips once again on the AVATA, luckily if I do get it I won’t be using the acro mode very often, only occasionally, only for some manoeuvre that I can’t get in the stabilised mode. And again, I won’t do it in strong winds or at speed. I still love it though for the video quality and ability to fly low getting that perspective, which I believe is what most sensible people will use it for.

    Good advice. But the video does not really show the way to fly in manual mode!!! If you can do a video totally explaining how to fly in Manual mode that would be a much better video. For example, show how to use the controller, as you are flying where should the sticks be, explaining how to keep the drone from crashing would be good. Thanks for the video.

    I just got mine a couple weeks ago. The tumble is insanely bad, I tried to tune the pids and get it out and so far no luck, any luck with tuning? DJI should have fixed that before a release, someone new to acro will lose a drone, no way you can do a proper freestyle video with that hard turn kickback and 1 second tumbles. I’ll keep my 6s with o3 air for freestyle and this for fly one over treetops in back yard

If and when we experience this ‘tumble’ (I have had it once and low level crash no issues) what is your recommended immediate action drill. Do we try and press pause or is there a better way to recover it that we can try? With mine it was low altitude and started to shudder sideways and tumbled. I think I may have instinctively just tried to level it to no avail lol. I know there is a way to take off in M mode, by using the start stop button on the RC. not sure, but maybe starting and taking off in Manual may help to prevent some of the known "face plant" issues when switching to manual mode in mid air???? not sure, just a question. or then again, maybe it's just an old guy in a hot rod, but the hot rod can't handle the old man's gusto....LOL

    There is another similar issue that other pilots have experienced where it flips straight forward. It is not the same as the tumble you were able to trigger that is typical of how most cinewhoops fly. Tumble is where a corner will dip but the front of the drone drops with this other issue and it’s not recoverable. Mass Tech did a test with a good example of this happening. He had the corner dip happen too which he was easily able to recover from so it’s a good comparison between the two issues.

    Great video as always, but I have one GIANT question (that I'm having a VERY hard time finding the obvious, simple answer to): I understand DJI restricts us from taking off in MANUAL mode... but, HOW DO I START THE MOTORS (ARM) and TAKE OFF IN EITHER NORMAL OR SPORTS MODE using the FPV Controller 2???? So far I've had NO results!! The controller IS bound to the AVATA and my Goggles 2 (NOT Goggles V2! ... I see notifications as I TRY to press different buttons to take off, but just ... NOTHING).... Am I missing something? Are DJI's BEST goggles NOT compatible with this DJI FPV Remote Controller 2???

      Go into the goggles and go to the control tab and change your buttons for manual mode to start motors and stop motors Aldo move to the expo tab and turn off altitude restrislction with a toggle bar at the bottom of the Graft

      If you don't have the dji avta proview 2 with goggle 2 and the manual stick remote sold separately

      @user-px4li5wt1l I'll keep this handy for future info. That's precisely why I left my comment and replies all up, when I discovered the solution on my own 2 minutes after I posted this, which was: the FPV Controller 2 had not yet been ACTIVATED with DJI. After I activated, the arming finally happened (both sticks down toward center), and it took off no problem. But thanks for your info!

    I saw others taking off in manual mode, not sure why you have to switch to manual mode in mid air.

      Yes if you take off from the ground it’s half a second to crash.

    You can take off in Aco if you put start stop on a switch

      I take off and land in manual. Just double tap the start/stop button to arm and disarm.

      Thanks. It's super stupid to me that they want newbies to switch into acro mid-air. Just asking for them to crash.

      @@dronecamps lol I meant in the sense of letting us noobs know how much we can push it. To be honest without your last 2 videos on the Avata, I wouldn't have known about the issues and lost it somewhere in the ocean

    Have you changed to your rates? Also, you might want to check out @MurdersFPV's UA-cam video. He's worked out a solution and now he can 'fly it like he stole it' 🙂

    The thing I'm having problem with is getting it to slow down when I want to shoot a gap. What angle should I keep my camera at in any other tips to help me where I can slow it down to shoot gaps better
