You're right about Yao, but Linsanity felt different cause it just exploded on the scene. This game was in the middle of LInsanity and I never saw Yao hit a game winning 3 in person
I love how they're in Toronto and everyone still started going crazy when he made that shot, if this doesn't give you goosebumps then i don't know what will.
I don’t think there will ever be a better example of making the absolute most of your opportunity like the Linsanity run. Dude went from being a fringe 12-15th man, to an overnight superstar, to parlaying a decent 9-10 year career.
Facts. In the NBA you never know, it could be your night, but he had a few weeks/months of elite play and used that to play professionally and take care of the next few generations of his family. Success story.
Lmao look at that crowd. That is a freaking ROAD game. The whole place is going nuts. One of those rare moments where everybody comes together and roots for the underdog to succeed.
I was one of the audience in this game at Toronto. We were all on our feet on that last play hoping Jeremy Lin will win the game.. and bang...HE DID IT!!!... The crowd went crazy and I lost my voice. It was the best basketball experience I've ever had.... !!
10 years ago today 😭 i was in middle school and i still remember Linsanity taking over NYC and how literally almost everyone here had a Lin jersey/shirt
Jeremy Lin is an amazing player, humble, talented, not afraid to play his style of basketball and to be confident that his team can come back. In all the games he's played so far, win or lose, he did his best, he played with his heart, he deserves respect. No one will have a perfect game every night, that's not the point, everyone loses at some point or go through slumps. But you learn about life through this process, and he's doing it as well as anyone ever could have. Proud of you Jeremy Lin!
I just feel genuinely happy for the guy. Textbook example of staying prepared, never giving up on a dream, and taking advantage of an opportunity. Things like this is what makes sports so great.
Look at him, 9 seconds to go, crowd going wild, he chills for four like a boss and then does it like he would do any 3-point-jumpshot. Someone with his background having such confidence? LINSANE!
Just as amazing as the shot itself, was the presence of mind and skill to time it perfectly, so that there was virtually no time left after the shot dropped, but still enough time for him to shoot.
It's so interesting to go back and watch these video clips again. How incredible! What's also amazing is how he gets the ball to his teammates close to the basket so they can score more easily. Tyson Chandler must have loved playing with him. One of the funniest things about Linsanity was D"Antoni's press conference after the game with Utah and D"Antoni replied, when asked if he'd played Lin too many minutes, "Yes, I'm riding him like frigging Secretariat." So funny! Take care.
People don’t realize how much fans were into basketball back then. Imagine playing away, hitting the game winner, and the opposing fans cheering you on in one of the loudest pops ever. Hate him or love him, his 2 weeks made basketball fun to watch again.
Raptors TV guys are some of the best in the league. They captured the moment of the year FOR A VISITING PLAYER. "The cream rising to the top," I mean that's incredible. They had a similar appreciation of a ridiculous Derrick Rose block on James Johnson.
I still get chills watching this. Look at where Jeremy Lin is now before he was about to get cut from his 10-day contract. I'm lucky to have witnessed linsanity.
Who is watching this after news of Lin signing for Toronto in 2019? If this was the reaction from Raptors fan for Lin just having beaten their team, can you imagine Lin nailing a game winner FOR them in the playoffs this year?!
Bring him back to NY!!!! Phill do something worthy man! Looking back I can say we were all happy fans watching this dude out of nowhere in his sudden stardom wearing the knicks jersey, I don't think we had such an amazing time ever since, the closest it got was this year with great performances by Porzingis and yet I don't thin it even compare with all the linsanity hype.
It can happen, but only if Melo signs off on it. Lin wants a return, and his agent contacted the Knicks when he signed last year with Charlotte. With our new uptempo offense he would be great.
Like they had a good thing going & it was too good cause it took some shine off of Melo... Now I think he wish Lin was there to take some spotlight from their horrible season...! Then again they may not of been this horribble with players like Lin who play with heart & determination...LOL
The thing i love the most is that Because Lin's playing so well, people who doen't watch Nba Basketball have been watching just to see Lin play. And they're learning about The game itself. When i see someone say something like "I've never watched so much basketball in my life" or "I'm suddenly a Knicks fan" I just feel good about it. It's not jumping on the bandwagon, it's finding a new interest in a game you weren't that fond of.
The warriors and rockets didn't give Lin any chance and kicked him out. The Knicks used Lin and he lead the knicks into playoffs...and basically kicked him out after that. The rockets begged Lin and got him back and made the playoff last year and this year, the rockets are solidly in the 4th seed. GUESS WHAT.... the rockets are planning to kick him out again and made him a bench player. These teams used Lin and spit him right out. now, Keith Smart of the warriors got fired.
