Excellent! I lived on the Ballyrainey Road and watched the workmen cutting down the bridge that once carried the railway across the road as I walked to Ballystockart school.
Holywood Arches were where the railway line crossed the start of both the Holywood and Upper Newtownards Roads in Belfast. The Ballyrainey Road is just over a mile out of Comber.
Nice video, during the 90s when we were in high school, we used to fish the ponds at the mill and catch pike from them. Them ponds should never have been filled in, they have been seriously neglected at the roadside now, totally overgrown
Do you see the bit at the end there behind andrews memorial? When you go through that gate if you look to the right there’s an old coal bunker where they would have shovelled the coal on to power the trains at the level crossing. It’s hard to see but it’s there. Only found it last year out on a walk lol.
Spent manys a day on standby in my Rapid Response Car at the Ambulance end of the Station! I'm a wee bit fascinated by the BCDR. I'm not sure if you're aware of Geocaching. I have a series of Geocaches placed on or as near as possible to most of the bridges on the BCDR line from Comber to Donaghadee and from Comber to Downpatrick. They Caches aren't as well maintained as they should be, my bad! But they hopefully might encourage some folk to take an interest in the history of the railway. The Cache pages have an occasional picture and a wee bit of history. Geocaching.com is the website. You would need sign up to enter the site, and my user name is Balatty. Thanks for the videos. Very interesting.
@@trainscranesandtrivialtale7262 Old Ballygowan road, travelling from Andrews mill you will pass the foremens houses on the left and continue past the new built houses until you come to a right hand bend on the road which is actually another stone railway bridge underneath, the road then bends to the left where you can park a car and walk up the field on the left where you will come across the old Iron bridge which crossed a very deep raven, no more than 3/4 mile from Andrews mill.
Your videos are so good. I'm on a binge today. Thanks 😊
Thanks Donna. Glad you're enjoying them!

Well researched and presented series of mini documentaries, thank you.
Thanks Colin, appreciate it

Brilliant. I shall share your series on the 'Friend's of Neill's Hill Railway Station' Facebook group. Very well done.

Very interesting. Shame railway gone.
Can you do a video on the old aghadowey station
I'm told the bridge on the way into Comber wasn't destroyed, but reused in another part of the railway system, and is still there.
Any idea where Brian? You mean the iron bridge over the Belfast Road?
At Derriaghy.
The old Iron bridge just of the old Ballygowan road is still there and untouched, easily the tallest bridge in the area.
Whereabouts George? Not sure I know this one

Fascinating! Will definitely go in search of that one
Great watch. Richard can I ask where you found that aerial photo of the mill shown at 1:43?
It's Britain From Above, Ben. There are some great photos of Northern Ireland. You need to register to get full access but it's free.
Tragic beyond words. No forethought whatsoever
should bring a mono rail back
