- ROC wins women's team gold medal, ending Team USA's decade long reign. They posted a total of 169.528, while the U.S. came up short, earning 166.096. Great Britain took the bronze (164.096). It was the first time that the U.S. women have lost a world or Olympic team title since 2010.
ROC lead the standings by more than two points after vault and uneven bars. But things got tense after their first two competitors on the balance beam, Vladislava Urazova and Angelina Melnikova, fell off on their acro series and failed to break 13.000. 2021 European all-around champion Viktoria Listunova salvaged the rotation with a 14.333, giving ROC a .800 buffer heading to the final event.
By the time ROC floor anchor Melnikova saluted, she need just 10.534 to secure the gold.,she delivered an 13.966.
The 2019 world all-around bronze medallist was in tears before she even got off the mat, running to embrace her teammates. Moments later, the tears flowed as confirmation of ROC's gold flashed on the scoreboard.
“After I landed the last tumbling pass, I understood that we did it," said Melnikova afterward through translation. "I never experienced anything like this in my life, because I knew immediately that we did it, that it was possible for us.”

Listunovas floor was the highlight of the competition for me
It's as if Russia was destined to win this. Viktoria Listunova was not supposed to compete because of the age requirement. She held the team together on beam and provided a safety net on floor. Well done!

Pleaaaase, post the rhythmic gymnastics videos :) I can't wait to watch them.
I have always found the notion that a result in sport is a given before it has even happened ridiculous. Before the Olympics I heard people say stuff like: ''Every member of the US womens team is guaranteed a gold medal in the team event''.
When will people ever learn that nothing is certain in sports.
Listunova ❤️❤️
I was hoping until the very end for italy to win bronze! I also wish Giorgia could have been there 😭😭😭 but i was happy for gb to win a medal
please also upload the rest of event finals. Thanks!!
Listunova en suelo, espectacular😉😉😉
Russian gymnasts are such a beauty and elegance.
Thank you for posting! I love Russia! I was crying when I watched them win. Also, the live streaming US coverage I saw didn't show any of the British team's performances, which annoyed me. So, it is great to be able to see them now, though I wish I could have seen their team perform live too. Congratulations, Great Britain!!!
Nowhere was showing the GB routines. :( To be honest I didn't expect the bronze, I was really surprised they focused so much on Italy. Up last on beam is very unlikely to win bronze. I was surprised they didn't focus more on France given they were vaulting last.
Love ROC especially Melnikova!! 🇷🇺

It's very sad that in the qualifying season for the Olympics, Rebeca Andrade and Jade Barbosa were injured and Brazil couldn't classify the team for the Tokyo games, they could certainly fight for the bronze.
I feel bad for the commentators who have been roasted for not spotting what happened with Simone. They saw the vault once, didn't expect it, I thought it was fair to see sthg was wrong but not the amount of twists. Still too bad for USA.
I've never been more excited.....

The fact that Simone is even standing before the vault under all that pressure is intense and all over her face. Her mind was probably going, no one in the audience, all the athletes watching, friggin BOCELLI playing in the background like some kind of swan song. Amazing performance and a great win for Russi... I mean ROC. In a twist of event, that chiles out of bounds somehow evens out their fall mistake on the beam. I'd say that listunova's floor was the best in terms choreo but lee's the best in difficulty. USA somehow maintained their second place even without biles, congrats for the second place. The most surprising finish of them all was for team GBR, they really climb out through the ranks.I remembered them placing 7th after the second rotation but still finished strong bronze congrats, talking about a dark horse of the tourney.

How about 2004 Women's All Around Individual in Athens 2004 Olympics.
Viktoria Listunova and Sunisa lee stole the show. They gave their absolute 100% everywhere. Especially viktoria listunova she's just 16 in her 2nd international competition.
They literally carried their own respective teams. Suni's performance is impressive even after being left with a very heavy role after Simone's withdrawal. Listunova kept her nerve in the beam and performed magnificently to keep Russia in the lead. They were the MVP's.
@@kimochiyokatta1710 I wouldn't say carried - to their credit, the other Russians were excellent except on beam, Grace was a solid start on every event, and Jordan stepped up for that unexpected bar routine so well.
@@nondescriptbeing5944 viktoria scored highest everywhere and suni did the same too. Grace was a mess she completely underperformed. Let's be honest she shouldn't have been on the team. Her overscoring helped her get that spot.

Simone didn't actually do the vault she was supposed to do. A lot of people don't realise this, but she was supposed to do a two and a half and only ended up doing a one and a half. Which she didn't anticipate before hand.
She's said in an interview that she got completely lost in the air, didn't know where she was, couldn't even comprehend how to twist properly and had no idea where or more importantly what she was going to land on. She was, in her own words, petrified and herself doesn't know how she even landed on her feet.
Just something to keep in mind.

The US team even tho they won silver, in my eyes what they went thru during this meet was awful but they are tough, they are golden to me! Russia got lucky that the US wasn’t at their best !

Russia's Olympic team gold is what I've been waiting for since 2010 when I became a Rus Gym stan because of Komova and Mustafina. As someone who lives in reality and not fantasy, I can't relate to people saying US team could send their A, B and C team and could still win the team regardless. Wow, Kim, thanks for saying that. I did not see that either, I am not blind, I live in reality even if it pains me. I do root for the U.S., but sometimes there are foreign athletes that I root for just as well (i.e., Andrade, Melnikova, Iordache, Mustafina are some of my faves). Anyway, I would have said the team A and B thing back in 2016 for sure, but this time, no way! I kept thinking why are people (even the commentators) saying that? I did think we were going to win gold but by a small margin this time around. Even with 2nd in qualifications, I thought they were going to snap out of it and probably get gold by a few tenths. Once Simone pulled out, I knew it wasn't going to happen. Not that they were not capable w/o her, just that the sudden change of course could rattle even the best of athletes.
It seems hard to find actually good commentators, these ones are okay but they made multiple mistakes, for instance calling Lilia's vault a Cheng and not even noticing that Simone only did a 1.5 Yurchenko.
NBC commentators are the worst...so these two are a breath of fresh air.

I had to blink my eyes a few times than usual when I saw Urazova. I thought I was looking at Bella Hadid's missing sister. Anyways, I hope as she matures, she could upgrade her floor and beam, and maybe her bars routine as well. I see a lot of potential in her. Same with Listunova. Talk about her beam mount though. Gives me the 80's or 90's vibe with that.
@@cassieee3499 she worked on many upgrades but was inconsistent on them because of a growth spurt. We will see more difficulty from her in the coming years.
@@cassieee3499 I absolutely adore Vlada. I think if she can get her floor to 5.5D she will be a podium finisher. Her execution on all her FX skills is Chef's kiss. Even her feet stay pointed.
@@chariezwane3981 I would love to see Vlada to stretch it to a 6.0 DS on floor, if possible. I mean if she really wants to be a full AA'er, she has to at least extend it to make her program a podium contender alongside other senior level programs.
@@tineegonzales7365 I think 6.0 might be a lot for now since she is still adjusting to her growth spurt and she is stronger on bars and beam anyway. I think with some clever routine adjustments, a range of 5.4 to 5.6 isn't too bad.
6.0 is a lot, considering the stronger floor workers like Murakami and Gelya are at a 5.9, the Gadirovas are at 5.5, and I think Flavia is at around 5.6. I think she'd still be super competitive at mid 5 since her execution is so good.
@@chariezwane3981 I understand. Still, she has a lot more years to get it done and I'm hoping she can without any injuries, of course. I would like to see her progress as a medal contender AA'er, bc her and Listunova will most likely carry that torch for Russia when Gelya retires.

Imagine if the Downie sisters were on the team along with the Gadirova sisters. That would've been epic. They would've made the team if it wasn't for the untimely death of their brother that shook the girls
I will never get over how Angelina Melnikova closes out with her floor routine, just like Cheng Fei and Aly Raisman. And she even threw in a triple l-turn for good measure!
Loved Suni Lee and Viktoria Listunova as well for being stars of this final. And how the Russians hit their floor routines after their disastrous beam rotation. And how GB pleasantly surprised everyone! Really sad for China though.
Thanks for letting us relive this epic final.
Her triple L was not counted... :/
@@eimardgomes1128 Oh, no! 😑
@@eimardgomes1128 Did they count Lee's double L? You never know with these execution judges!
@Anna I'm guessing Lieke wasn't able to make it in her routine?
china will send 5 queens of beam in paris 2024 haha
I love the Japanese attitude 🤍 always smiling and having fun!
Mai was delightful to watch. What a good sport she is.
I love how they say thank you every time they salute
Russia is coming back strong again. Im sensing a 2010-2012 level of dominance from the big 3. Gelya's starting to achieve the Mustafina/Khorkina/Komova level of greatness. I'm sure she'll slay the 2022-2024 quad without injuries or retirement. She already mastered the DTY, she could pull an amanar, plus she already had a cheng. She's becoming great on beam. She even competed with a full in pike dismount 3 years ago. Her bars can outscore their strongest specialist and she's great on floor. Urazova's clearly going places. A future beam and bars champion, the height on her tumbles are high. She could do a Silivas. Listunova will be the first aa champion from Russia since Mustafina. Her flexibility and execution is unmatched, especially her double layout😭 I'm so excited!
edit: listunova's execution is just magical on all apparatuses EXCEPT VAULT💀💀
I agree with everything. It made me so happy to see Listunova smiling at the end of her floor and Melnikova getting emotional right at the last pose.
Ummmmm, USA won the Team Final in 2011 and at the Olympics in 2012!! USA also Won the All around in both those years.. I think your timeline of 2010-2012, should only say 2010..
@@davidreign9247 I think they mean the strength of the team and individuals, I don’t think you have to win to be considered dominant. I feel like dominant teams are the ones you always see on the podium. also we’ll start seeing closer margins.
I so look forward to worlds. Imagine Russian podium 1-2.
@@davidreign9247 but Aliya went home as the most successful artistic gymnast in 2010 and 2012. Even if Jordyn won the AA in 2011, Komova's still much more remembered and celebrated because of her display from that quad. They also have Afanasyeva, literally one of the best floor workers of all time. Tatiana Nabieva who revolutionized bars with her eponymous skill, and the most beautiful gymnast to ever grace the sport-Anastasia Grishina.
Russia really was the better team in this competition however it is truly sad that we are not gonna get to see them compete for who knows how long with what’s currently going on and that’s unfortunate especially since it’s not even their fault they have been banned
Hahahahaha
Listunova is absolutely fantastic!
I'm rooting for her on the next quad.
I think the emphasis on the importance of Biles in the team is overrated. Don't get ne wrong she's an amazing gymnast but her teammates are also amazing as well. Lee was definitely the MVP here but every girl did her best to make her country proud. With or without Biles, this was a wonderful result and they should be proud.
Exactly! Biles hurt them even with her only performance...
Well said! I don’t think any other 3-person (excluding Biles) US team would have gotten silver the way they did. ROC had a great team for the 4-person format. Unfortunately US needed Biles to hit to get gold.
The Russians ate this up. The whole team is great but Listunova for me was the MVP of these finals
Suni was too! She gracefully took Simone’s position as the leader and lead the team to a well earned silver!
She is really great. She has it all. Only 16 and already such a star.
@@JoaoZamae let's just pray they won't burn her out like they did with Komova, Grishina, even Mustafina to some extent
Yes!!! Listy was the MVP. She really did well although she's only 16. I hope that she will become greater in the coming years of her career.
@@hannibaljustincase9985 Hopefully she doesn't. I think Listy's enemy would be the growth spurt.
How did the two commentators not realize for like an entire hour than Simone did a 1.5 twist and not an Amanar, and thats why she had a 5.0 difficulty lol?
Italy was sooo close to the bronze. They'll have a bright future
Without their star Georgia Villa as well! They’ll definitely be fighting for the podium more often in the future.
Waiting for Angela Andreoli 😍😍
I hoped they'd medal so Vanessa could have two olympic medals :(
@@hannibaljustincase9985 I think they got the team bronze at the last worlds, and they were beyond ecstatic, I wish they could have medaled here too, but I am just as happy for Great Britain.
Vanessa deserved two medals
I wish GB were included more since they were on the podium. The people in charge of the broadcasting assume that it’s always going to be USA, Russia and China on top. They never show much of any other countries. More fool them.
And how is that fool of them? They don't have time mashine or psychic abilities. All the predictions were about those 3 teams to be on top. And predictions are the only instrument to build broadcasting schedule. They can't include all, the time is limited.
Well, it's because of their order in qualifications: Russia, USA, China. That's why they were assumed to be on the podium.
Then France qualified 4th, Italy won bronze at the last worlds, and Japan is the host country. GB winning bronze was a surprise so it's difficult to plan the broadcast around that. Their margins were also close.
The way they covered gymnastics this time was ridiculous.
And please do not forget that GB didn't have major stars.
I know Gadirovu sisters are well known in the UK, but they were not contenders for any individual finals, which the actual results proved. Becky was the only one with the potential to medal and I'm sure they would have shown her bars (and maybe beam).
@@volodymyrdolia6544 Gadirova twins are known internationally. U only have to go on gymnastics Twitter to know that
Congrats to Russia for the Gold, I was rooting for them to win. They absolutely deserved it, mistakes happen as always, but they were the best team from Qualifications and it was no different in the Team Final. I expected this result but what I didn't expect was the 3.5 advantage, certainly Jordan Chiles's routine on Floor and Simone's absence, regardless of those factors, I still believe Russia had a better team and performance, also, why is nobody talking about TeamGB Bronze?? They made history, it was unexpected, many people had previously said that they couldn't get to the podium without the Downies and they proved those people wrong. I'm so proud of Great Britain and for the first time in a few years the podium positions were really open. It wasn't as tense as the MAG Team Final, maybe, but it was certainly exciting to watch
Las rusas tienen tanta gracia para esto. Se ven delicadas y femeninas.
